@kari-karast Quite alright, love! I happen to love that name. Alliteration in a character name is always cool.
*looks down at badge* so…what would a gruesome badge look like? Bad question? Probably.
And…yeah. The giant emojis? I scrolled through the first few pages of this thread just to catch up a bit. No one is forgetting that, @i-david. 😉

I tend to find the theme in my characters–specifically, in their relationships with one another and their motivations.
Take my current project for instance: it doesn’t have a super dramatic theme at all. It’s a fairy tale retelling of Aladdin, but instead of having an important romantic relationship, the story focuses on the love between…[Read more]

@ericawordsmith I’m so glad everything went okay! I absolutely hate going to the dentist. My mother made me go by myself once…on my birthday. Wonderful way to celebrate being nineteen 😉

Elizabeth replied to the topic {Story Theory – Week 10} Strong Female Characters in the forum Announcements 7 years, 1 month ago
*grin* Can I just say, I love how you formatted this?
And yes! This is something I’ve been conscious of as I’ve been working on the MC of my novel, an elemental named Evyn. Her strength isn’t all muscle, but her power over storms is pretty intense, so making her a good female character has been a tad difficult. But then, so is she…

Elizabeth replied to the topic {Story Theory – Week 9} Discussion: How Much Research Should Fantasy Writers Do? in the forum Announcements 7 years, 1 month ago
I’m with @parker on this one. I think, in most cases, fantasy works tend to not need as much research as other genres–however, I have found myself researching things for specific cases, such as, say, how one would wield a sword properly. Or the different types of bows–which, I might add, is very complicated.

I feel like I’m really late to this topic but whatever…
*ahem* the character death I’m most proud of is the death of a side character in a short story I once wrote–his name was Lance @kate and he died right in front of my MC–his best friend. Kate read my story and had the most incredible reaction…

Elizabeth replied to the topic {Story Theory – Week 5} Plotter vs Pantster (and why I think they don't exist) in the forum Announcements 7 years, 2 months ago
Oooh. Cool topic, guildmaster dear.
I’m a bit of a plotter and a pantster lol. I don’t live and breathe by my outline, especially since the characters in my current novel-in-progress tend to take charge and write things by themselves. What I mean by that is, a lot of times what I want to happen often changes as I write it, so I’d say I have…[Read more]

I’ve absolutely no idea how the enneagram works lol, but I did take it once and it seemed to match my MBTI type pretty well. I think that’s…type 5? I wanna say it was something 5w2….
