@julia I’m not sure. I have an idea of what I want. Just a simple photoshop of a normal picture I want to take. I don’t know how much money I’m willing to spend. Preferably less than $100. Is that enough info for you? Thanks for the advice!
@consciousdreamer Yes, I already loved Lindsey Stirling (Have all her albums) and now I love Taylor Davis!…[Read more]

Here’s the next update on using information to create effective pacing and suspense. If you missed last lesson, it doesn’t matter too much but you can look at it here. Most times, you will write a scene and there will be dialogue. The temptation with have an antagonist vs protagonist scene is to have them both scream at each other their plans. The…[Read more]

1) How do you get people to do guest posts on your blog? Just by knowing other bloggers?
Um… probably. I don’t have guest posters on my blog (though I’m considering having a month of guest posters each year in the future. Don’t know yet how well that will or won’t work, lol.), so I don’t know. But once you know bloggers you can…[Read more]

Time for our second lesson in Pacing and Suspense, and hopefully it will be a major help. Until the end of June, we’ll be working through choice of information.
One of the things that will keep a reader riveted to a book is if they don’t know everything. If you know exactly what’s going on and what will happen, you’ll get bored. I can guarant…[Read more]

(This might make a duplicate, in which case I apologize, but I think I accidentally deleted the original trying to edit it to get a tag right. XP)
My main character makes a lot of bad choices as part of her arc (negative and then recovering from that negative arc) and I have two themes that I want to emphasize: 1) People need people. 2) Bad…[Read more]

@consciousdreamer I those ideas too!
@everyone! What if the people in the capital, which is all steampunk, think they are above everyone else with their fancy geared clocks and mechanical dragons etc. And the native members of the city have a special charm added for being a “Pure Calima” (a name which sounds pretty cool 🙂 ) and they generally…[Read more]

@consciousdreamer That’s a smart idea, if the steampunk area has steampunk dragons, the forest dragons could look like part of the trees as a defense mechanism like a smaller version of these.

@evelyn Thanks! I was actually considering writing a humorous Parimi legend called Aurelius and the Iron Dragon or something like that. I have a few good ideas for it.
