@r-m-watcher
I think Flights of Fancy sounds very interesting. I have never heard of a book that discussed such a specific topic, which makes me want to read it. I’ll have to look it up in the next couple days or less.
Classical Greece sounds very ancient but definitely very cool, and I don’t know much about it. Are there any really cool myths…[Read more]

I have just always been fascinated with animals, ever since I was kid. I’m not sure why, but the fact that I lived in the country probably helped, where I have access to nature 24 hours a day. I currently have two tropical aquariums, one with platies and Corydoras catfish and another with guppies, a golden mystery snail, and a sunset…[Read more]

Hi there, writerly folks. I have not visited Story Embers in ages; nevertheless, I have devised a topic to reconnect with you awesome people! I like fiction (in fact, I am writing a fictional “novella-ish” story as I speak, er, write). But I also love nonfiction, am taking a writing coarse, and have written a couple nonfiction articles on animals,…[Read more]

Hi. I just popped on here, sorry if I’m late to the topic. I haven’t visited Story Embers in months, and I was just looking around to see what looked interesting, and so this topic piqued my curiosity.
I know a lot of you guys are mainly talking about fiction books, but I’ve learned quite a few cool and interesting facts from nonfiction as well.…[Read more]

@anne-of-lothlorien, hmm, I think dystopian fantasy would suit the name of the genre mix I am currently writing in.

Well, it sounds very interesting. I’m writing my short story for February right now, and at one point, it seems almost dystopian/perhaps futuristic… but then again, there are knights (who have laser guns) and the MC is using robotic goldfish to spy on the corrupt Queen of Hearts. And the Mad Hatter (he goes by Georgias in…[Read more]

Thank you! Also, great goals you have there! The Apprentice Spy, was that of dystopian genre? I think you might have told me at some point, but I can’t remember for sure.

Alright, what is your 2021 goal? Mine is to write a short story every month and then at the end of the year, I will select my favorite short story to make into a novel. I decided to do this, because overtime I noticed I had a notorious habit of beginning a novel but never usually finishing it actually. But this way, it should work out…[Read more]

@Dakota, nice job! I really like how you began the poem… “Flower, you’re crowned with a jewel-like bud, But all you think about is that you’re planted in mud.”
I mean, I like the entire poem, but I like, especially, these particular sentences, or the opening to the poem. Keep it up! 😀

CHAPTER TWELVE:
A splinter of light pierced the utter dark.
Chloe bolted upright and glanced upon her cream-shaded bed. Pale walls decorated with vibrant flowers surrounded her. Dazzling, golden light descended through her window upon the multicolored floor. A wreath of…[Read more]

Alright, the final climax is written. Feel free to critique. If you think anything in this chapter is a little weird, unnecessary, or that you just disliked, and that might be because of Chloe’s odd POV, you may share your thoughts on them if…[Read more]
