Thank you for your feedback! I really appreciate the time you two have put into responding.
Okay, so there is a little bit to unbox here.
I hope this post doesn’t get confusing, ha.
So, in the first book of my series, Kimberly lives in a different country with her best friend Hannah (also a main character, I have 2 p…[Read more]

I am really impressed with your convictions to write Godly romance. I’m also a teenage girl who’s never been on a date…so I don’t really know anything about this, but I do have some ideas.😄
Like Zee said, making Kimberly really insecure in other areas of life will make her reluctance to start a relationship with Carter more…[Read more]

Sounds like you’ve put a lot of thought into this @rebekah-elizabeth, but I have to wonder, since the story isn’t a romance, and thus the relationship between Kimberly and Carter is, at most, a side plot, I wonder if there might be a different way to show Kimberly’s lack of trust and fear of being hurt if she commits to a relationship? You might…[Read more]

Hello, fellow writers!
My current WIP is not technically a romance, so I am sure that I seem a little out of place here, but I need some advice.
I am trying to create a romance in my story, but am having a really hard time with it. My main character, who I will name “Kimberly” for this post, struggles with feeling like she cannot commit to a…[Read more]

That was beautiful. You are really quite right. I have that a little bit in my book, but when you put it like that, I should use that analogy a lot more.
I fully intend to make my romance novel as appropriate as possible.
Thanks!

Well, if you look at the big picture, the Bible is the biggest romance book there is!
The entire story is pointing to when Christ marries the bride for which he died for!
I’ve never written romance novels, and i dont neccessarily plan to, but I mean, how cool is that? It starts with the bethrothed bride running away, because she hates the man…[Read more]

Your question made me laugh. Is it ever sensible? Probably not… Unless you are using it to woo someone. I think it’s sensible for a guy to use a bit of romance when proposing, otherwise, the girl might just say no. (depending on the girl I suppose) But in most cases, it’s probably likely to set your heart way ahead of your head. I guess, as I…[Read more]

I have to say, the way you worded your post title question made me smile. Is romance ever…sensible?

I do pronounce it like from the Lord of the Rings! That’s actually who my parents named me after. 🙂
Baby naming books are full of weird things. They are helpful for finding normal names that my brain won’t come up with alone though.
I am not smart enough to create my own names. I mostly write in the “present-day America”, so I…[Read more]

Well, good luck, then. Romance or not, I’m sure it will be a good story either way.

@zee Since I wrote the above blather I have circled back around to being a romance again. (Actually, I tried to delete the previous post. You weren’t supposed to see it. It was resurrected somehow. There’s a story for ya, the discussion post that wouldn’t stay dead. Zombie Post)
Saturday I drove to the town in which my story is set, hung a…[Read more]

@laur_m, sounds to me like you’re not moving around in circles, but in the right direction! I had a similar issue with the first novel I tried to write (which ended up being scrapped for parts) I wanted it to be an adventure story, but it ended up a romance. Sometimes, a story can go a lot of ways, but there’s often only one best way, and it’s…[Read more]

@amaustin Oh, I love your name!😍 Do you pronounce it like Arwen Evenstar from Lord of the Rings?
Baby books can be great…but sometimes they have weird meanings for great names. Do you ever make up meanings for names you invented? I want to sometime.
I usually say my name Air-n-down, but I’m not picky (actually, I say it Are-in-down half the…[Read more]

Yeah, developing the plot is always a good idea… just not as fun as romance. :] If I ever finish the third draft that I’m working on of my book (somehow no one told me that books take so much work when I started. Although, I didn’t exactly know anyone who wrote when I started, nor did I tell anyone when I started, it just kind of…[Read more]

Hey, I like your plot. Sounds like something I would like reading.😊 I would say spending time to develop the plot and characters would be a great idea, whether or not it’s a total romance. The deeper the characters, the better the relationships will be.
I hope this isn’t too personal, but is your name actually Ari? I LOVE that name.😍…[Read more]

I would love to look at your NaNoWriMo! I’m sure it will be amazing!
I think some Christians do have different standards, but I guess for me, I wouldn’t even have them kiss before marriage. That’s just personal though, I think it really does depend on the person and what they are comfortable with. Only up to a point though, because the…[Read more]

I think it is possible to insinuate too much. When I’m afraid of crossing a “line” and being inappropriate or insinuating, I question whether I would let my parents (they’re always helpful when you’ve gone too far) or one of my younger sisters read it. If not, maybe I need to adjust something.
I love the idea of having the main romance…[Read more]

I haven’t read the Scarlet Pimpernel, although I should because I’d love to read someone “sticking it to” the French Revolution. I remember the Scarlet Pimpernel was mentioned in the Larry Norman song “Without Love (You Ain’t Nothin’)”. Yeah, I’m that old. My future spouse and I actually went to a Larry Norman concert back in the day.
