HEY GUYS.  I’M BACK.

You may have noticed, Rillumen has been really quiet of late.  And in that silence, I have been silenter.  Long story short, college didn’t do the usual ramp up into the semester thing and I got tidal-waved with homework week one.  Labor day helped me catch up though, and I’m back in the game now.

Yay!

First up, some announcements.  While I’ve been quiet, I’ve actually been quite busy with other guildmasters and staff behind the scenes with some exciting meetings with exciting results.  While I can’t share all of our secret stuff with you just yet, I do have some cool news for today!

– We have a Guild War Calendar!  I think some of you have seen this already, but for those who haven’t I thought I’d share.  The guildmasters all worked together to brainstorm some cool new guild war ideas and I’m looking forward to those!  (We have more Word Wars on the way too, which his extra exciting to any of us looking for a boost in motivation to get some words on paper!)

– We have a new Guild War!  Yeah like, right now!  Wordsmith already started a topic which you can find here.

– We have an accountability board!  Wait, that’s not news. What was my news?  … OH YEAH.  So like, I’m actually going to MAKE USE of the accountability board.  That means that I’m going to go through it every week and check up on any and all goals.  And I’ll bug you a little if you’re behind.  Just because I want you to succeed.  So head on over and make your goals public!

– STARTING NOW I’m initiating a critique rush!  Swing over and critique an excerpt, more if you can.  I’ll be heading over tomorrow too… and I’m just sayin’ that if I see you over there critiquing I’m a lot more likely to critique your stuff.  (This also means it’s time to post new stuff for critiques!)

– I’ve heard you guys say that you wanted some character development help.  I can’t say much, but I can say IT’S COMING, and IT’S GOING TO BE AWESOME.  Really awesome, I think.  So keep your eyes peeled for that.

SO NOW for your activity!  Ever since we started this weekly prompt guild thing I’ve been on the lookout for helpful writing advice to share with y’all.  Last week I found some… right here on SE.  For this week’s activity, swing over and read Gabby’s fantastic (and short) article about a character’s impact on description.  It’s worth your time, believe me.
