I care for neither historical accuracy nor modern sensibilities. The settings of my stories are versions of history that are as horrible, fantastical or sanitised as I need them to be. They exist only to provide a place for my characters to live and for the plot to happen. Story is king. 😛

Yes, I was frustrated with that part myself but couldn’t figure out how else to convey the whole near-kidnapping thing. I wanted to minimise the soldier’s role. But without introducing and developing the motives of Sungmin, the whole series of events would just seem illogical and contrived. 🙁
