Thats the perfect description. It was great, but I’m kinda dreading the return to school.

Hi Kendra! I’m Rose, pleased to meet you!
What’s the premise of your novel? I’d like to know more about it!
-
Hey Rose! Nice to meet you too!
My story is about a world without music. A boy named Remi has trouble fitting in with his family and avoiding trouble with the soldiers the patrol their bay. Then one stormy night, he meets a mysterious girl who is on a dangerous treasure hunt that will change their world.
It’s been a fun and challenging writing…[Read more]

That’s a really cool premise! It sounds like a lot of fun to write too!
I was curious, does it have a magic/special abilities system, because I’m generally a bit uncertain of those, so I’d like to know more about it if there is one 🙂Ooh, trilogies are the best! *High-fives fellow trilogy writer* I’m drafting the third book of mine, it’s been a…[Read more]

Hey Rose! Congrats on finishing your second draft! And that’s super cool you’ve already gotten a great start on your trilogy. So historical fantasy — tell me more about that. Is it based on our world in the past? Or are you using historical things in a totally different context? Would also be curious where the magic/fantasy part comes into your…[Read more]

Hey Kendra!
Thank you! Well, Historical fantasy is a term I like to use to describe what is essentially high-fantasy but rooted in historical events. So, it’s a fantasy world, but it’s based off real areas, cultures, and time periods, though it also has fantasy elements.
My project doesn’t have any kind of magic/special abilities system, or any…[Read more]

here–just a little piece, but it was fun to write.
“Quin.” Hakan’s face appeared in the doorway of the tent. Quin looked up from the seam he was stitching, grateful for the chance to rest his eyes.
“What is it?” He refused to call Hakan ‘boss’, as all the other men did. Hakan had never mentioned it.
“How’d you like to go with on a busines…[Read more]

@emily-waldorf ok that’s what I thought, but I just wanted to check! Idk, it would just feel off if Quin was tall lol
That’s a great idea, except Saskia already has a love interest – kind of. I’m not sure what point their relationship’s at at this point…
Yeah, I can already tell a good chunk of my time in the castle is going to be spent tr…[Read more]

KendraBell started the topic Beta Readers or Form Critique Group? in the forum Writers of Children's/Middle Grade Books 4 years, 6 months ago
Hello fellow writers! Is anyone interested in swapping novels or forming a critique group? I’m currently in a secular critique group for my novel (about 70,000 words) and it’s been super helpful. At the same time, I’m really hoping to connect with other believers and learn how you are approaching your writing from a Christ-centered perspective…[Read more]

Ah, yes, guilty as charged. I used to love my stick-men battles way back in the day.
Oh, absolutely. Mine were of the rectangle horse varietyXD

All little kids draw themselves doing cool things, and in his case that was being a mighty warrior

Nice. Seeing first hand sources of writing and archaeology is always fascinating.
Exactly! This was originally written on birch bark, not parchment, so it’s amazing it was preserved that well.

Ellie noticed a pattern in the rocks he was using so she helped him gather. Julian sat against the wall and watched while petting Griffin. Soon enough their only form of protection was finished.

It’s one of the many doodles made by a seven-year-old boy named Onfim who lived in Novgorod (now Russia) around 700 years ago.
Nice. Seeing first hand sources of writing and archaeology is always fascinating.
As you do.
Elucidation required. 😂

Lorcan
Aydin was back too, it seemed. Things appeared to be – frostier between him and Liorah. Lorcan wondered how much time had passed since he last saw them. And what had changed. A lot apparently.
He was secretly relieved at least that Aydin was alive. He definitely preferred him over that high and mighty princess.
He sat down on a rock and…[Read more]

Oh gosh I would love it if she could insult Lorcan about his looks especially if she knew Yila liked him. Liorah seems like the kind of person who would insult someone because they’re great looking hehe
I have no idea if that’s canon but it absolutely could be XD That’s totally her thing XD
