*slips in quietly at the back* *whispers* Sorry I’m late… 😛
1. The only way you can be a tree-hugger is if you worship the creation instead of the Creator. Being a nature-lover myself, I think it’s worth remembering that God created Adam and Eve to hang out in the garden, take care of it, name the animals, and talk with their Creator about…[Read more]

HEY GUYS. I’M BACK.
You may have noticed, Rillumen has been really quiet of late. And in that silence, I have been silenter. Long story short, college didn’t do the usual ramp up into the semester thing and I got tidal-waved with homework week one. Labor day helped me catch up though, and I’m back in the game now.
Yay!
First up, some anno…[Read more]

Lumenian Solders! We have the prompt:
‘Your prompt is: “Write any story you choose with the most original and creative prose you can.”’
Hahaha! This is interesting. Let’s brainstorm…
Here’s a doc for us to lay our thoughts down on: Rillumen Writing Prompt Worktable
Just hop down there and start laying down prose. Test your ideas, stret…[Read more]

@sir-leeds Thank you!!!! So helpful.
I’ll go through and try to take some of the words that are out of place and replace them with more fitting ones. When I repost, I’ll tag you. 🙂

Hey everybody,
I haven’t finished up my plan for these activities moving forward, but thanks to all of your REALLY AWESOME feedback on my topic last week it seems that the picture prompt activity was by far the most popular, so I thought I’d spin another of those together. You need to write a short scene. Source of conflict? The glass w…[Read more]

Hey guys!
So I’ve been having an issue lately… coming up with a new one of these every week is hard. That’s my excuse for not posting one this week.
Sorry. I know it’s lame.
However. I’m going to take this week to put together something of a long-term plan that will (hopefully) help me communicate and use these activities to really be h…[Read more]

Hey guys,
We’ve got two big things going down this week.
First, FEEDBACK FORMS. The Story Embers staff and Guildmasters are looking to make these guilds even way more better. To do that, we need your guys’ thoughts. So, we’ve put together this short survey for everyone to go through instead of doing an activity this week. Please take a few…[Read more]

Rachel Rogers replied to the topic Where do you read new poetry? in the forum Poetry Discussions 7 years, 10 months ago
@sir-leeds Oh, yes. I love anthologies. There’s a whole shelf dedicated to them on my bookshelf. 🙂
@raemarie Finding time is *such* a struggle. I have the Complete Poems of Robert Frost on my bookshelf, and I just never seem to get around to reading it through. 😛 The abandoned part of your library sounds cool. We used to live near a country…[Read more]

Anyway, we’ll get them next time. I want to heap praise on @wordsmith and @graceabounds2129 again because they were awesome. Nice work everyone with the ideas too, that was cool.

Basically what the title says… Where do you go to read new poetry (excepting SE because that’s obvious, okay)? Is there a website you go to? Do you follow poets on Instagram? Do you subscribe to poets.org’s Poem-a-Day? Do you check out books of poetry from the library? Do follow any poetry blogs? Etc….
Tagging a few people who might have some…[Read more]

Brandon Miller started the topic Week 12 – Mood in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 11 months ago
One strength that descriptions have is their ability to set the mood for a scene. For example, if my character is walking in the woods I can describe either the spring breeze brushing through the trees or the hollow, cracking leaves whisping through the eeire silence. In these descriptions I’m describing the same thing, but I’m creating a t…[Read more]

Emma Starr replied to the topic Making Books of Poems in the forum Poetry Discussions 7 years, 11 months ago
I have been interested in publishing, but I think that will be in a few years. I have a total of about 35 completed poems, but they don’t all fit a theme, etc. However, I want to make a book of poetry at some point soon. Your themes sound really interesting! I’ll look through mine to see if I have any trends. 😉

Okay so the last Guild War Prompt was a little heavy. That’s okay, sometimes life is heavy and stories must be honest.
ON THE OTHER HAND, we don’t want to leave everybody feeling low, so this time around we’ve got a more… light-hearted prompt: “Write a scene from the point of view of a five-year-old who has an engaging character voice.”
