@kate Yay! Here’s mine:

I still have to go back and fix repetitive language and put some details to rights, but here’s my draft, about the same length as Kate’s. Please tear it apart… and edit away.
Also, I assume for the sake of time, people…[Read more]

Hey Guys,
I’m going to do a slightly more in-depth post about disposition for this week’s theme discussion topic. If you missed it, here’s my first post on disposition: https://storyembers.org/forums/topic/disposition/
This being a relatively new idea for me, I’m still learning about it and I did a lot of that learning over the past week. The…[Read more]

Your WIP sounds so interesting!!
About Ferdinand. I totally should come up with a story about him! Awesome suggestion. I need to think about that! 😀 Do you wanna help me write it? 😜
Yeah, I bite my nails all the time, so I wasn’t weirded out by your last sentence. Trust me, I can get really weird at times too. 😀
(We should…[Read more]

Yelp. @daeus-lamb posted this on October 1st, meaning it’s due October 14th. Don’t we usually have a draft going by the time the second week rolls around?
I can write something-that’s-not-so-good-but-it’s-still-something by tonight, then turn it out to all of you so we can jump into the editing process.
Or, if someone is reading this who wants…[Read more]

@rosemarylouise, a little late to this, sorry! I just read through your story and I had to say that I really enjoyed it. It drew me in right away and kept me interested up till the end. (Which I’ve realized is very rare when I’m reading most short stories (I’m not sure why), so good job!) There were a couple extra long sentences that I got a…[Read more]

Hello, my wonderful Scribe Peoples! I thought I’d pop on real quick and share something I just discovered.
Lately, I’ve been dealing with the dreaded Stuck Scene. I know where I’m going, and I want to get there, but when I sit down to write, I just… can’t… get there. Everything seems gray and blah. My heart isn’t in it and I don’t even know…[Read more]

@msqueen8 – Aww, thanks, Rachel! Yes, it was one of Daniel’s visions. Thanks for mentioning it, because it’s “Uphaz” gold, not “Uphir.” That’s what I get for not double-checking 😛 The reference is Daniel 10:5 if you’re interested 🙂 Oh, and that’s in NASB. Not sure how other translations translate that word.
@rosemarylouise – Thanks so much! I…[Read more]

@rosemarylouise YES. TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. And it’s such an unconventional parent/child relationship too, but it’s so deep and… and… perfect. Yes, perfect is the word.
@noahlitle good thoughts. I hadn’t thought it through that far; just noticed that it was a problem and wanted to write about it. It’s really sad. 🙁

Well guys, we have the results for the word war.
If I counted right, our total was 20,961 — an awesome word count!
However, Rillumen nocked it out of the park with 39,179 words. :0
Collectively, all the guilds wrote about 200,000 words in one week! *faints*
While we didn’t win, keep in mind we really weren’t too far off. Some of us were…[Read more]

Yessssss. All the yes. Great thoughts, everyone.
This is something I’ve been passionate about for a while, but have only taken fairly small steps to addressing in my own work. I need to get on it.
One of my latest projects, though, actually featured a ‘whole’ family— father, mother, and son— who throughout the story (despite clashes,…[Read more]

@rosemarylouise Wow, I am impressed by your insight. I think you really hit the target when you said why parents are so underrated in things these days. It’s part of cultures war against every kind of authority. They started warring against God, then moved on to parents. Really good post. 🙂
I’m sure if I thought for a couple of days I could…[Read more]

Hi everyone!
So right now I’m brainstorming/outlining for my WIP, and in short, I know where I’m going to end, I’ve figured out my beginning, but it’s a little hard for me to continue plot-brainstorming. Maybe it’s because it’s a lot of work, but I’m hesitating to try to create a plot line from the first plot point and getting it to end where I…[Read more]

Let’s talk about the most undervalued character type in all of literature.
Parents.
The obvious fact is that most parents in novels die or are already dead (at least it seems like it). The less obvious fact is that even when they’re around, they’re not very important as parents.
What may be even less obvious is that even when they do matter as…[Read more]
