Hey Saxon Scribes. I think I missed last week somehow, but thankfully I remembered just in time today.
Let’s talk about relational development. Just like the meaning we bring to the world is often found in our relationships, usually the best character development is actually relational development between one character and another.
Today, it t…[Read more]

@raemarie — Hello and thank you! I’m excited to get to know you all and try out my first word war!!
@daeus-lamb — I’m not on the list of members either, but that’s just because I recently joined, right?

@raemarie @ethryndal Oh, dear. Sorry, I don’t know how that happened. You’re both definitely still part of New Wessex. Just give me a few days to correct this as I’m on vacation.

Hey all! This is a super short story (800 words) that I’m hoping to submit to the new Havok ezine that split off from Splickety Publishing. Anyhoo, I’d LOVE feedback if ya’ll have a minute to read it quick. 😀
I think it needs a bit more in the way of stronger verbs and unique prose. I think the core is strong enough, just…[Read more]

@wordsmith Thanks I like to think I’m smart. 😀 (And I actually think it has helped… after you said this though… *smirks*)
Yeah. It can be a hard decision.
Also I am assuming the same that you assumed in your intro thread…Because you presented it as a challenge, I’m assuming it’s possible by searching public profiles.
Okay, gotcha.

@evelyn Hi! Sorry it’s taken so long for me to respond. I’ve been very busy lately. I literally just started cake decorating, getting books from the library and watching YouTube. (the haven for learning new things) I have not seen Infinity War yet….so no spoilers. 🙂 And the Book Thief is sooooo sad, It made me cry so I swore to never watch it…[Read more]

@msqueen8 – Aww, thanks, Rachel! Yes, it was one of Daniel’s visions. Thanks for mentioning it, because it’s “Uphaz” gold, not “Uphir.” That’s what I get for not double-checking 😛 The reference is Daniel 10:5 if you’re interested 🙂 Oh, and that’s in NASB. Not sure how other translations translate that word.
@rosemarylouise – Thanks so much! I…[Read more]

Yessssss. All the yes. Great thoughts, everyone.
This is something I’ve been passionate about for a while, but have only taken fairly small steps to addressing in my own work. I need to get on it.
One of my latest projects, though, actually featured a ‘whole’ family— father, mother, and son— who throughout the story (despite clashes,…[Read more]

Hem of Healing
Ever since I heard of Jesus, I thought and prayed how I might get near Him. If only I could offer a sacrifice at the Temple, perhaps God would grant my request. But no, the Law forbade it. Even if I could draw near, I had little to offer. All my money had been sp…[Read more]

@hope-ann You miss the point of our affectionate outburst! We have achieved an admirable balance between logic and emotion, such that we can revel in the depths of a conversation that stimulates the intellect, and then express our appreciation of that stimulation by way of a warm and congenial expression of our feelings! It’s really the best of…[Read more]

@daeus-lamb What do you mean by writing being a legitimate alternate life? I’ve a feeling I probably agree… but that can mean so many different things. Especially when it’s so easy to slip into writing and let it take over everything else. I think it’s a very valid and quite large aspect of life for us writers but, like you said, is hardly the…[Read more]

Great discussion @hope-ann. I agree with @Daeus-lamb and @Karthmin that if I wrote only for money it would kill my soul. *dramatic Feeler swoon*
But I have a bit of a spin-off question. It’s kinda related, kinda not, but I’ve been turning it over and over for several months and I’d love to hear what you people think.
Most (probably all) of us…[Read more]

@literatureforthelight – thanks, Grace! That’s so encouraging, especially about getting it out there. Honestly, I’m not sure where exactly. I don’t want to publish it online because I hope to put this, and other stories, in a collection someday. But if I think of something, I’ll pursue it 🙂 Also, huge thanks for tagging other folk!

Now I’m super pumped to read A Tangled Web! Can’t wait to get started!
The rest of the Little Pepper’s series aren’t as good? That’s too bad. I was looking forward to them so much. I do definitely want to read the next one, just to find out how it all turns out.

@karthmin My ‘theme’ makes for amusing conversations when I try to tell people about it. ‘yeah, I really like the theme of hope. No, it has nothing to do with my name. I just like it is all.’
Though… just writing with nothing in mind? *swallows and shuffles through stacks of outlines* even my ‘fun writing’ has a vague outline of where I’m going…[Read more]
