Hey Saxon Scribes. I think I missed last week somehow, but thankfully I remembered just in time today.
Let’s talk about relational development. Just like the meaning we bring to the world is often found in our relationships, usually the best character development is actually relational development between one character and another.
Today, it thought it would be helpful to talk about how we can stay focused on character relationships. On the one hand, we can be distracted by fancy prose, setting descriptions, or action scenes. On the other hand, we could easily throw in some cookie-cutter character development and call it good.
What does it take to foster deep character relationships and how do we make sure these don’t get sidelined? While we’re at it, we could also talk about romantic relationships since some of us are prone to lament that the typical characters seem to fall into a relationship without any sort of realistic build up.
