Oh. It couldn’t have been that bad, could it? Better luck next time, I hope.

Yes, thanks for sharing, @daeus-lamb. Every little bit helps. What’s the name of your novel? Is it still available?

@zee I feel similar. I’m not published, but marketing feels so nebulous and impossible- shouting into the void. Exactly.
@daeus-lamb Thanks for the resources!

@zee A novel I self-published several years ago was kinda like that. 😄I’ll just name drop my favorite resources on marketing and self-publishing.
. Absolutely anything by David Gaughran.
. Kindleprenuer.com
. It’s been a long time, but I remember Tim Grahl’s book’s standing out.
. The Novel Marketing Podcast!!!

@imwriterhere1920
I have a lot of favorite books! To name a few, I like The Lord of the Rings, The Losers Club (written by Andrew Clements), and the Mysterious Benedict Society series. What about you?

Hey nice to meet you! No, I haven’t published a book yet. Though I am very interested in self-publishing.
Yikes, I hope the problem will work itself out. I’m in the middle of taking a look at your first chapter, and I love the hook. It’s strong and compelling.
I love reading MG too! I grew up with a lot of MG/Children’s book…[Read more]

Hi!
Thank you for taking a look at my book! I’m currently in the process of making it a paperback (by the way, it’s soo frustrating! I just spend 28 minutes talking to Kindle Direct Publishing trying to troubleshoot a problem).
Have you published a book?
I like to write middle grade fiction because I read it a lot! I also like…[Read more]

Hi, I’m Lily and I love writing MG too! That is so wonderful that your favorite author got to read a part of your work. I’m so sorry he passed away.
I know this reply came a bit late, but I’m definitely curious about your book (and checking it out right after this; thanks for the link). I wish you all the best as you write for ch…[Read more]

As a recently (self) published author, I’m still trying to get my head around the concept of promoting/marketing my books.
Yes, I’ve sold a few books, but I don’t have a clear plan for how to go about getting them into the hands (or rather, onto the screens) of more readers. So far, all that I have done feels a bit like shouting into the…[Read more]

You should never pay for traditional publishing. If you pay, 99% chance it’s a scam.

Hey, everyone!
Just want to let you all know that tomorrow is the last day of my five-day free book promotion! It’s so cool to see all the interest in it. I’ve been working on the book for about two years, so if no one cared that would be discouraging, to say the least. But several writers have responded to say they would read it across dif…[Read more]

I like Lizzy’s thoughts. Honestly, I would try not to feel much pressure to make any immediate decisions on what you want your account to be. Instead, I’d just get an account, follow people you care about or find interesting, experiment with different kinds of posts, and see what sticks and what feels the most like “the real you” so to speak and…[Read more]

Zee replied to the topic A Little Help with Free Marketing? in the forum Publishing and Marketing Nerds 5 years, 8 months ago
Actually, @hobbitchild, it is ok to provide a free book in exchange for a review. This is such standard practice that Amazon allows it. However, the reviewer should indicate that he received a free copy for review purposes as opposed to buying one.
If you’re looking for potential reviewers, try BookSirens or IndieReviews. But as you may already…[Read more]
