K.M. Small commented on the post, 5 Reasons You May Want to Write Your Novel as a Short Story First 5 years, 7 months ago
I really enjoyed this post! I write short stories a lot for practice on creating strong scenes, but I’ve never considered using any as mini first drafts for my novels. I want to give it a try sometime.

That was a phenomenal article! Thank you!
I do have a question: do you think it’s unwise to get alpha reader feedback later in the writing process? For instance, if a story takes a first draft and two significant rewrites to get it where I want it content-wise, are there drawbacks to receiving feedback after I’ve already been through that many…[Read more]

Wow. This is such a thought-provoking and important article! It takes such a balance. On one hand, we need to be extremely careful with our stories, specifically in the three areas you highlighted. On the other hand, we can’t become so scrupulous that we stop writing altogether for fear of making mistakes; we have to trust that God in His goodness…[Read more]

Thank you for this article! I’ll definitely be coming back to it a lot in the near future. I’ve always been a Tolkien fan, but after reading Sanderson last year, I fell in love with epic fantasy all over again. I’m encouraged to hear that rewriting and outlining and compiling ideas for a single story for the past five years means it’s halfway…[Read more]

Theme. Always. I cannot write a story if there is no theme. Usually, that means I get an inkling of the MC’s inner struggles and what the climatic moment will entail. I also usually get a simple worldbuilding and plot idea based off that theme.

Is this a space opera/fantasy/horror book? xD
Ah, I forgot to add the articles to the title. That’s a little better!

@deeprun thank you! 😀 I used a MozArt Supplies Komorebi Japanese set for the larger one and Winsor and Newton, professional grade, for the smaller ones (pricey, but the half pans I got look like they’ll last a while and really make the color pop, even on student grade paper)

@deeprun sure! I’ve been doing watercolor on and off for a little over a year, so I definitely have lots of work to do. I was just getting better with the amount of water I used, then I moved to a REALLY dry place and doing wet on wet technique for skies has become a pain xD
Here are a couple I did recently 🙂

@emgc I finished up both paintings, and am pretty happy with how they came out! Everything else but the paperwork (of course) is going okay 😛

@joshuapior I’ve heard a lot of good things about Frank E. Peretti’s works. I’ve yet to read any, but I hear This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness are phenomenal.
It was great meeting you! See you around in the forum!
