That was a bit confusing, let me clarify.
I like complex stories. I like stories that have a lot of complex, detailed, and hard to solve problems. Typically, “clean” Christian fiction doesn’t have that, which is what I meant by it not being as whitewashed but still more in the general “clean” genre that is defined by Christian fiction…[Read more]

@lrc It’s funny because there are different categories of clean even within my own meaning of the word.
- There is “Not clean, I am not reading this book.”— there are five swear words within this first paragraph and they talk about sex a lot. The MC has a LGBT relationship, or someone else does within the first two chapters. (Funnily enough, v…

A “clean” book can deal with mature topics but I suppose it depends on how they are portrayed and how much they dwell on the “details” as opposed to the consequences.

Hello there! I’m SeekJustice, Queen of the Future. I have been on hiatus, attending to the duties of a queen, but I’m back now.
The future is lovely, by the way.
Ooh…the worst historical fiction? I don’t know…historical romances tend to be quite dodgy. Not that the plots are bad (though I really don’t care for them), but there’s just…[Read more]

I found this in Charlie’s journal. She’s quite the poet.

People. Walking. Talking. Moving.

I can’t really remember one. I know there was a book that was historical fiction that I read once, and it was really good until the end when it ended so quickly. It was like the author didn’t want to write the story anymore, so just rushed the ending. It was VERY annoying.
I haven’t read enough to find a “worst” one, though LOL

Lol, okay!
I don’t want to talk about worst “historical” books, ’cause then I’ll get mad…and I don’t feel like getting mad right now. XD Seriously though, they are TERRIBLY when not written accurately! *faceslam in frustration*

@everyone
Sorry I have been gone for so long! Finally back now… XD
Wow, cool! I will have to check that book out. Sounds really neat.
(Love your short tag, btw. Lol!)
Ah, I get the “want-to-get-involved-in-every-topic-like-crazy-but-don’t-have-time” thing! Thanks for saying hi, though. 🙂 And I love that line that @his-bard…[Read more]

I’d like to add on to what @lrc said. I believe that most (possibly, all) wars come with both a reason and a pretense. The powers in charge have their reason (case in point, secession and preserving the Union) but to get people to be willing to enlist and fight they need a pretense (slavery).
Not to say that the pretense isn’t partially, or t…[Read more]

In real history, probably no real reason for the west to start a second secession, other than because they probably could’ve gotten away with it.

@lrc Yeah, I pretty much knew what pin money meant, though not the exact definition since I never looked it up.
I’m speaking of something entirely different: pins used as actual currency. The only reason I mentioned pin money is because the name sounds so similar. 🙂

Hey everyone, I have a historical question that I’ve been wondering about. I’m not going to be able to email/chat with you until July, (I’m still working on finals) but I’ll give you my email address now just so I don’t forget later. I’ve put it in a google document which you’ll have to request access to. I think when you request access you can write a note letting me know it’s you, b…[Read more]

@lrc, Hey Lindsey, nice to meet you! Not only are you a his-fic, you’re even in my era (or close to it.)
I have to admit, I’m a historical fantasy writer, not a strict historian – I prefer to call it supernatural rather than magical, along the lines of the Enemy’s magic and God’s miracles rather than a totally otherworldly magic system.
Being…[Read more]

Hey Lindsay! Nice to meet you. It is hard to find his-fic writers among the vast crowds of mainly fantasy writers. That’s why I love this topic. 🙂
Obviously you know more about me than I do about you, so I suppose I don’t need to introduce myself at the moment. 😛 I understand that you’re not able to be on SE much, and I’m prob…[Read more]
