Reading back over my last comment, I decided that it wasn’t actually very good advice…so just ignore it.
This is supposed to be aΒ happy story after all and we don’t want to be so focused on making it “not clinche” that we forget to make it happy. So, yeah, just ignore me. 😉

I agree with @bama-rose ‘s comments. Everything looked good. The only thing I would change is the actual writing – the sentence choices. You seem to tell a bit here and there.
Another thing that I would kind of like to change (this is totally up to you, don’t be afraid to say no) is the order we get the story in. With your…[Read more]

Wow, this is great! Love it! You have made the conflict feel believable, which causes the ending to feel more realistic. Great work! 😀🎉🎉
One suggestion I do have is not to make Min so happy at the end. I feel like it’s a “really happy” when it should be a more “resigned happy”. Their friendship will never be the same, but…[Read more]

I love it! I don’t think it’s cliche at all and I can see how Min would get jealous after a while. The only thing I would like to see (personally) is maybe after Min get’s the bracelet, he turns to glance at Tae-Ki. You know what I mean? Look back with a meaningful glance, maybe a smile or something.
I like it. Alot. π

I’ve been thinking recently about something that’s never caught my attention before. Taboos. If I could only ask one question about a culture to learn about it, I’m tempted to think I’d ask about its taboos.
Taboos could keep a whole nation in slavery (for instance, if they think it brings bad luck to question their priests).
Or taboos can…[Read more]

Okay, well glad I was of help. 😛
What you have looks great! It’s interesting and I can’t wait to see what you come up with. Keep up the good work and thanks so much for being willing to do this! 👍

@literatureforthelight Awesome.
What you have looks good. I can’t wait to read the rest.
Don’t worry too much about the flashbacks. If they don’t fit, then don’t force them in.

I agree with @eden-anderson. You should decide what genera you want to do.
I don’t agree with her about her not being helpful. Just putting that out there. π
As for the conflict and emotional heart of the story…
We could do a story about two friends who haven’t talked to each other in years. Or about a rocky parent -…[Read more]

@literatureforthelight From my limited experience, happy endings focus on the resolution (the climax can be plenty intense) and show how everything is being repaired/people are healing/love life and happiness are flourishing.

I would say if you are the one writing this, then do what feels the most right for you.
But I suppose that isn’t very helpful. 😛
I don’t have any experience with writing (or reading) sci-fi, but I really don’t care if that’s what you choose. If you feel the most comfortable writing contemporary or fantasy then I think you…[Read more]

@literatureforthelight Thanks for the explanation. It was incredibly helpful in understanding what Noah was trying to describe. 😀
Uh…I guess I was just thinking about it too hard. 😉 Okay, yeah that makes more sense. I think the superhero story/thing would be complicated to write, but if someone could write it and write it well then…[Read more]

@literatureforthelight understands what I’m trying to say. It’s really only complicated when you think about it. You have toΒ feel an idea like this. What you’d be doing basically, is showing an event from the MC’s past and comparing it to the MC’s present by showing it side by side. Thus showing…[Read more]

Hmm, yeah. I mean, I like the idea but I feel like it would be complicated… I’m not used to writing that genre either but I’m willing to try.

Daeus Lamb replied to the topic A happy ending π in the forum Announcements 7 years, 4 months ago
@noahlitle I like your idea, but I’m not sure it would classify as a happy ending. I think a happy ending (whether or not there’s sadness mixed with it) should first be heart-warming.
@literatureforthelight Perhaps the plot could be based around a misunderstanding. Like, the protagonist thinks that nobody cares about him or they’re trying to hurt…[Read more]

Where is everybody? We need to get going on this.

@literatureforthelight I’m actually technically still in high school taking dual credit courses, but I plan to double major in Business and English- so this will probably end up being an elective. π I find language absolutely fascinating though, and this class has been amazing!!!

@literatureforthelight I really love that two sweethearts one! I could really see that happening.
@corissa @eden-anderson I agree with the bittersweet part. I mean, I love happy endings, but very rarely is The Perfect Ending™ executed well. We want to leave the reader satisfied, not underwhelmed by the cliche ‘everyone is happy!’ ending. π
