Hey guys! I want my writing family’s input on something writing-related.
You ready for it?
Women in fiction. Particularly in fantasy, where so many of them take on combat roles or other roles commonly filled by men, in the name of offering ‘strong female role models’.
What do you think about this trend? While I was thinking about this I start…[Read more]

OKAY GUYS.
It’s rough, but it’s down. Took a few turns I wasn’t planning for, but I think it’s pretty close. What do y’all think?

@corissa @cassandraia @literatureforthelight @eden-anderson way to go, ladies!
Corissa, I love all your ideas, and I think they would be perfect— for a much larger story. 😛 I forget our exact word limit, but the enormity of all your beautiful themes would crowd out a lot of the simple rawness that can be such a strength in a short story.
You…[Read more]

I think this sounds awesome, guys! Ahhh I would love to write this story but am not sure I’ll have time…. When is it due? Also, this scuba diver dove in to find death–but they took their gear, which would prolong their life. Does that mean that they essentially wanted the last thing they saw (when they ran out of oxygen) to be something…[Read more]

Anyone interested in kicking this off, or shall I?

So guys, I feel like we need an emotional dilemma. Who was it that suggested depression/suicidal thoughts? I think that could actually match really well. Maybe the character dived into the kelp forest hoping to find death there.
We could make it a larger story, with lots of backstory inferred. If this is a fantasy story (and I feel like we could…[Read more]

*jumps in*
Okay guys I actually really like the fish/kelp idea. It’s very offbeat and we’d have to handle it carefully, but it’s got such a good aura/imagery to it— almost like a parable of life and following the light. What do you think?

@bama-rose Aww, missed you too! I value the community here so much…it’s super encouraging and helpful. 😍 I need to stick around more.
@literatureforthelight @sesi @corissa @cassandraia Even if we never use these ideas, y’all should get something for your imagination. These are epic ideas! Especially the wax museum, ohmyword! 😂

I will also try to be around! I apologize for my extended absence : love the prompt! Battlefield first came to my mind, too, so I agree with the others. Wax museum would be interesting! I guess it would be considered dramatic. Maybe during a natural disaster? That’s dramatic. 😛 and that’s the way I’m understanding it too, @literatureforthelight!

Greetings Saxon Scribes,
I’m really excited about this new prompt war because I think it’ll be a great learning experience and result in some wonderful submissions.
Our goal is to write a story where we bring out the beauty of something ordinary in the middle of a very dramatic setting.
Unfortunately, I’ll be out of state during much of this,…[Read more]

Alabama Rose replied to the topic How are you doing? in the forum Announcements 6 years, 10 months ago
Yeah, that sounds like it would be really good to work with. I think the ONLY thing that’s holding me back is that I don’t know how to market my book, and I feel like if I publish traditionally they’ll help me out with that. But I’ve also heard that’s not necessarily true, soooo I’m kind of stuck. How is marketing for you?
