@samuel Welcome back to the guild! And yes, I love milk tea as well. Did you travel to China or did/do you live in China, and did you like any specific type of tea there?
I’m ethnically Asian and live/lived in that part of the world for basically all my life, so that’s why I’m so interested about a reference to China.
@r-j-karas Yeah, it’s…[Read more]

I definitely agree with @ethryndal on doing something contemporary, because however wacky/cool our ideas might get, if we want the spotlight to shine on the prose, then we’ll need that making the story pop, and not necessarily awesome fantasy settings.
I don’t have an opinion on POV; I’m fine with whatever.
Perhaps for the purposes of this p…[Read more]

@r-j-karas I think the thing about section 5 was that I wasn’t expecting it to be a horizontal bar… so it took me a while to figure that out. It might just be me 🙂 It’s awesome how much work you put into the site. I used a laptop to view this.

@daeus-lamb @kate I was going to contribute meaningfully to the conversation, but…. CHOPSTICKS ARE THE BEST EVER and I wish I could eat everything with them.
*gives you both one of Halt’s withering looks* Except I don’t think he took too kindly to chopsticks either.
Anyways, I’m with @germaine-han in that I don’t feel guilt terribly deeply,…[Read more]

@r-j-karas I’m actually reading the Knowledge of the Holy, so I recognize that A.W. Tozer quote at the end. And I know I’ve just tagged you three times in a row, but the sunset simulation/gospel sharing was <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>very, very good</span>. You have a gift for knowing what’s interesting, engaging, and relatable, and…[Read more]

@r-j-karas Oh wait, I found the bar. *goes on reading*
@daeus-lamb So many points of conversation… I wanted to reply to so many people making my way through, but alas, I’ll have to go to bed and get around to tagging those people tomorrow. Thanks for starting this 😀

@daeus-lamb *attempts evil laugh, but chokes on boba*
I actually attached the picture because I know boba tea is widespread in California, a place I’m familiar with, I wasn’t sure about the rest of the USA. Have you had the chance to try it?

@r-j-karas WHAT IS YOUR WEBSITE IT IS THE COOLEST THING EVER
Anyhow, I’m currently on what the URL says as “TastingFreedom5” where you invite the audience at the end to try another bar, but at that point I can’t click any of them away. I have yet to explore the rest of your website for time’s sake, but kudos on making such an engaging gospel…[Read more]

@r-j-karas This is great! It’s beautiful and it’s a touching story, plus the concept of writing those backstories is amazing in itself.
One thing I particularly liked about the story was the allusion to Rahab, and how it connected the mind to more places in the Bible and brought together the cohesiveness of the story and biblical times as…[Read more]

@kate I feel like the several paragraphs you’ve written are as beautiful as any good poem. It was a blessing to read 🙂
I adore life. I adore people. I adore the God that made it all so beautiful. Writing is an act of adoration. Writing is also a desperate scream for answers.
I feel that in my heart as well. Life is so beautiful and just so wrong…[Read more]

@kate Wow… both your and K.M. Weiland’s articles are pretty amazing, and it certainly will take me a while to sift through my memories and see which works have impacted me in my childhood. Something that I can remember, though, that I’m sure has impacted me, is the gut-wrenching impact of death, or self-sacrifice (like the end of Of Mice and…[Read more]

*finds email in inbox that names me as a frigid person* Well THAT obviously has to do with the guild. 😀
Tea or coffee? (The world breathlessly awaits your answer.)
Tea. As in the Taiwanese cold beverage kind that can also contain fruit juice/syrup, milk, or small particles of starch-sugar (boba or pearls ) or jelly floating around in it. Also,…[Read more]

@r-j-karas The ice-breaker is a great idea! I was thinking, too, about a forum thread where everyone only posts once, writing an introduction to themselves, so new people can scroll through and have a general sense of where everybody’s from, what their personality is, WIPs, etc.

@daeus-lamb This is a really good decision, and thanks to you and SE staff for making it! I’m sorry for not being here on a more constant basis. I’m far more comfortable, here, though, than the vast world of the rest of the forum, so count me in 🙂 Let’s do this!
Also, the badges are a fantastic idea.

@salome01w4g (I sincerely hope I got that right)
I have the problem of editing sentences as I write them. Like, it has to be written perfectly, and I’ll phrase it several different ways before I’m satisfied. My little sister actually told me about this tic I have where I write a word, delete it, and write it again as I think about what I want to…[Read more]

I was drawn in emotionally once he started describing the music — probably because I’m a music person.
I think there was a good amount of childish emotion in there (a lot of sweet, cute instances), but it might’ve been thrown off by the kind of adjectives that are used in the narration — which in this case is a tricky subject, since…[Read more]

Thanks for this article! It actually sent me down the road of considering how to heighten the stakes and make my heroine sacrifice all she’s got… and somewhere in the process, I nailed my WIP’s setting and premise, which was a major encouragement for me in a story that has been kind of dead for the past few months. So even though I don’t plan to…[Read more]
