Thanks for “inviting” (i.e. tagging) me Rose! I’ll have to consider it! It sounds a lot more doable if I don’t have to commit to 50K right off the bat.
Awesome! I’m so glad you’re here! Exactly, it’s supposed to be fun, not that stressful 🙂
Thanks for tagging me, and I know I said I would be interested, but I think t…

Hi everyone!
I started a topic a while ago, trying to find a Christian NaNo group, and concluded that enough people wanted to participate that we could have a topic right here on SE!
So… here we are! Two days until NaNo! I, for one, am excited 🙂
I’ll tag some people who said they wanted to join, (And some others off the top of my head) but…[Read more]

Hope this all made sense! I’m not so good at explaining at times XD So let me know if anything’s unclear!
No, that makes sense! That’s an interesting interpretation! I’m not positive how it lines up with Messianic interpretations, so I can’t give you a comparison, but I think it’s pretty close, since that seems to line up with the…[Read more]

Ooh, cool! So basically Ellen G. White was God’s chosen messenger to proclaim truths about the Sabbath and the Second Coming to the world. Some of her main teachings include:
– The importance of the seventh-day Sabbath and why Christians should cherish its observance
– Humans are not immortal (only God is immortal), and thus only…

Hi Joy! That’s awesome that you want to encourage teens too! Hey, have you ever read Twice Freed (by Patricia St. John)? It’s been a long time since I’ve read it, but I remember it was based off Onesimus, the slave Paul helped in the book of Philemon.

Hey there, it’s Lily. So, I’m a children’s/MG writer, and I love writing for that particular audience because I grew up reading a lot of MG stories.
Anyway, I realized there are a lot of people on here that write YA. So I’m curious. Why do you write YA stories? Was it a particular book or author that inspired you? Or do you strive to wri…[Read more]

Oh, that’s interesting! Most Adventists actually do not eat meat or dairy because Ellen G. White (our founder and prophetess) warned against it. I rank among the Adventists who take a more relaxed view – I do eat meat, but not very often, and keep the dairy in moderation. I believe Sister White was speaking of her specific times, as…

Hi Brian, I’m very happy to see you again 🙂 Feel free to read along, glad to have you!
It’s awesome that you have a Messianic character in your book! I have never in my entire life encountered one, and precious few Jewish characters, and it’s amazing to see it represented 🙂
Also, I notice that you refer to Jesus a…[Read more]

I love that both of you are discussing this. Mind if I silently take notes?
Dr. Ben Carson is a Seventh-Day Adventist. I love the man. Such wisdom and a love for our Lord.
My book has a character in it who is a Messianic Jew.
We have had a Messianic Jew come to speak at our church.
There is so much in Jewish…[Read more] -

Cool! I actually have heard of Messianic Jews. Correct me if I’m mistaken, but aren’t you guys kind of similar to the New Testament Jewish Christians? The ones that didn’t abandon the Law of Moses when they believed in Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I think Paul and Peter are prime examples of Jewish Christians, as they still obser… -

I actually haven’t noticed before, but now that you point it out, you’re totally right! In a lot of modern literature, female characters only play masculine roles, which I think is very unhealthy because it sends a message that traditionally feminine roles cannot be beautiful too. People are valuable in any role God calls them to.…

Hello! For once in my life, I’m early to something! XD
During the summer, I participated in Crazy Writing Week, and it helped me more than I ever thought possible. Prior to starting, I was suffering from a lack of motivation and general stuck-ness, even though I was on the home stretch of my first draft. Afterward, I had enough momentum that I…[Read more]

Exactly. Took the words right outta my mouth. Your “strong” female characters won’t make any strong impact if you just shove them in there to make them “role models” or something. Lol, that’s just very annoying in stories!
Exactly! It’s kinda poor worldbuilding too. If you change something from the real world you have to think throu…[Read more]

Thanks for the follow! And thanks for taking the quiz! I was Paul too the first time I took it, but I took it again the other day just for fun, and that time I got Temira, lol. So I guess a bit of both? XD
That website is a ton of fun to make quizzes for your WIP!!
I had the same thing, I made a quiz for my characters and got…[Read more]

Of course! You can find it here: Discipleship With Joy
I checked it out, I love it! I’ll totally be following you! I love your website design, it’s really cool! I took the quiz, and apparently, I’m Paul! Also, I started making a quiz for my characters via that website, which is really fun XD
I know! I’ve never met any villain in li…

Hey, y’all!
The discussion on “Does reading make you a better writer?” sparked this idea.
Which books have you (recently) read and what did you learn from them? It doesn’t have to be super in-depth, and you don’t even have to have enjoyed the book, but if it taught you something, I’d love to hear about it!
I’ll go first and list a couple off…[Read more]

+1 vote for Connor as a great villain. Don’t mind me Joy, I show up in weird places. xD
Also, Rose, how long did it take you in months to complete your 120k first draft for your second book?

Yup! Did you know that George Washington actually died because his physician bled him for a sore throat, and the loss of blood was just too much? It was not a good practice, needless to say!
Totally! They had some really weird ideas about medicine. Still, it really puzzles me is that they used it for so long. You’d think they’d have…[Read more]

Haha, so I’ll tell you a couple things I learned about ancient Greek doctors. (You asked for it. )
Oooh! Cool! I did a bit of research about the different theories of healing around the medical times, and that was one of the most popular ones! What I find especially odd is that bleeding was in practice until Edwardian times. Th…[Read more]
