Faith Blum started the topic Topic #28: Second half of the second act in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 3 months ago
The second half of the second act is where things start heating up and is also the last change to get all the pieces in place. Your main character is starting to take charge of his or her life and your climax is quickly approaching.
The series of actions in the second half mirrors the series of reactions from the first half (see previous topic for more info on that) These actions have an emphasis on your MCs inner purpose.
Second Pinch Point
This happens halfway through the second half of the second act (how many times can I say the word second in one sentence?). This pinch point will showcase the antagonist, either personally or in some manifestation that emphazises his power and potential ability to defeat the protagonist.By the end of the second act, your subplots will either tie off all of the loose ends or domino into the main plot for the climax coming soon!
An example of this, again from Pride and Prejudice is when Lizzy realizes she misjudged Darcy and owns up to her mistakes. This also happens to be one of my favorite parts of that book. 🙂
Which parts do you need to work on the most? I personally didn’t know about the subplots part until I read the book, so that’s something I need to work on.
See you all in two weeks!
