Whether we do another one or not, I think doing it on a separate thread is a good idea. I’ll go make one specifically for word sprints.

@serenity I have not been keeping track of how many words we have total. Sorry. I love the idea of a word sprint. I can’t guarantee I will make it, but I will try.

My goal this week is to write 14,000 words. Or more. I’m hoping that will help me stay on track and/or catch me up on my NaNo word count.

To be honest with you, this is one area I have been extremely weak in. I’ve always had a hard time describing settings. I write historical fiction, so that’s part of it because I have to try to figure out what the setting even looks like. So I usually do the lazy thing and don’t describe it at all. Glad it could help, @millenium-m

I think in one of the King Arthur stories I read, Merlin isn’t introduced for quite some time. Having never written books that require a mentor, I’m not really an expert on this, though. So sorry I…[Read more]

Character introductions are very important in a book. What kinds of things do we need to remember when we are working on the beginning of our WIPs? K.M. Weiland has a few in her book, Structuring Your Novel that I’m going to share with you today.
- Compile all necessary components of your story in the first act. Anything that is mentioned later…

How’d you do in your goals last week? What are you goals for this week?
Last week, I got to the 12,000 words I needed. This week, I need to write 17,000 words in order to catch up on NaNo, but my goal is going to be 2,000 words per day.
