Thank you both so much! I use repetition/refrain often for songs, but lately I’ve started using it in regular poetry. I was concerned that repetition would bore people.

It’s nice to meet you as well, K. A. Grey, and thanks for the stanza tip. I did fragment the lines for emphasis, but that is a good point on readability.

This is beautiful!! Nice use of repetition.  My only critique might be to split it up into stanzas to make each “I am a …” stand out, and perhaps combine some lines instead of fragmenting it to make it easier to read.  But splitting up lines can also add more emphasis too, so it’s up to y…[Read more]

Fair warning, I’m not at all a poet, I’ve never written poetry.

However, I loved this! It gets a clear message across, I love the format with a repeating pattern!

lol. it was close. Most of the differences are just me being exceedingly nitpicky. =)

The differences:

– red scales instead of green

“How long is it until we reach wherever?” Julian asked

Pia also took her place at the front, pike gripped in one hand.

Kallun walked in the back, figuring if they were attacked from behind he’d be the best at combat there. K’Nika walked Beside him.

“Yes, let’s.” Ellie said.

Finn went forward so he was in the lead, and the others followed

Finn put his arm around his own sister realizing quickly that K’Nika wasn’t as lucky as he was.

Ellie walked over to K’Nika and placed her hand on her arm, “I may not be a sister, but I’m still your friend.”

Arsene was very surprised at how Lady Crorie arrived. As she was here, Arsene could assume that Rook was onboard as well. The gentleman thief would need to be careful. He had come up with a backup plan, but he didn’t want Crorie to be in the way of his dramatic exit.
