*secretly cheers because I’ve been working on backstories this past week*
Really? That’s strange…but then again, he’s probably busy with the other site stuff too. π I hope he gets it up before the next writing prompt though.

Also, this is a little irrelevant, but do you know when our non-clichΓ©-happy-ending story will be posted on the guild page? I’ve been checking the guild war hall of fame for awhile now but haven’t seen it yet.

Would it be okay if we started having our characters interacting now so that when the storyline starts, we’re already comfortable with using our characters? (It could be a kind of “prologue” or ice-breaker-type situation where we focus more on meeting the other characters than the setting/situation.) -

Ditto to everything Dakota said. π -

All right! I’ll see what I can do. π
(Also, if I write character descriptions/backstories, does that still count towards my word count?) -

It’s happening. Again.
What is going on? Does this happen when the site is being updated or something?

Wait, never mind; it’s working now. π

Okay, so I reread over the two descriptions of the 1st major test and the midpoint, and now I’m not even sure there is a first major test before the midpoint. Could the first major test be when William is in the woods and watches Charlotte’s servant die for him? That’s kind of the point where William decides he’s going to fight Kemp…[Read more] -

Sorry, this is a little off-topic, but…how do you change your name? I’ve seen a couple people do it on here but have no idea how one would go about changing his name.

A hearty welcome to Meraki! *hands you a platter of pizza* (I hope you like pizza, ‘cuz we kind of eat it a lot around here and may be known to toss it like confetti to celebrate word prompt wins, word count wins, special accomplishments…and pretty much any other reason that we think of. XD) -

Oh, that would make sense if those scenes worked as William’s first plot point as well as Charlotte’s characteristic moment; they show what her normal is. And her uncle’s exposure of William would be her inciting incident, right? It’s definitely William’s 1st plot point like you said… but now I’m wondering where William’s 1st major…[Read more] -

Thank-you for responding! I guess my question was more about the “scene” part of the description. Does the fictional writing have to include plot/dialogue/action in it? I ask because I spent a lot of last week writing pieces relating to my fantasy world, none of which I included in my word count because of the style they were written in.…[Read more]

It’s probably too late to ask for this word war, but for future reference what are the exact parameters for an “original scene”? (action, dialogue, plot, etc.)

I don’t know if this counts, but I often write while watching television. It’s not the best since what’s on usually distracts from writing, but it can be good if there’s a lot of commercials or if the program isn’t too engrossing.

This is a neat idea for a story! It’s definitely not a setting I’ve seen explored a lot.
@kari-karast, does the Star Wars Expanded Universe deal with this at all?
