I don’t have much imput…just that I agree with @ethryndale and the others and I love @corissa‘s idea.
The main reasons I wasn’t active in New Wessex recently was because I am having a really busy summer and because no one else was really on here much. I found more community and friendship outside the guild (on the general form) than I did in…[Read more]

I pretty much agree with what people have said — the novelty might wear off, and it isn’t anything new.
Echoing Sarah, my personal reason for not being on is that my online activities here at SE generally correlate with how much time I’m actually spending writing… which, if taken up by school and summer homework, isn’t a lot :/…[Read more]

Hey Saxon Scribes,
As you’ve noticed, activity has been pretty low here. Same with the other guilds.
That’s fine if everyone’s busy, but if it’s just because the guilds weren’t attractive enough…
Well, we should do something about that then.
After talking it over with some of the other SE staff. We have an idea. This isn’t a premade…[Read more]

OKAY GUYS.
It’s rough, but it’s down. Took a few turns I wasn’t planning for, but I think it’s pretty close. What do y’all think?

@corissa @cassandraia @literatureforthelight @eden-anderson way to go, ladies!
Corissa, I love all your ideas, and I think they would be perfect— for a much larger story. š I forget our exact word limit, but the enormity of all your beautiful themes would crowd out a lot of the simple rawness that can be such a strength in a short story.
You…[Read more]

Echoing @corissa, let’s make sure what we end up with is the strongest way we could write the prompt. There are so many great ideas here though, so keep it up!
@kate @cassandra If we’re not sure who’s drafting, we have had two people do separate drafts, just to get started. I don’t have a laptop at the moment, so I’m mostly going to be around…[Read more]

@corissa ooh, her being the Jezebel could be interesting…but also difficult; you’re right. XP and it is very easy to lose sight of the prompt. Hm. Not just an exotic fish–but what would it be? A normal fish she sees a lot? Something ordinary that fell into the kelp? But somehow she sees beauty in it?

@corissa I didn’t see the part about Baal worship. That would be interesting. You mean like the episode with Elijah and the fire from heaven–what the Baal worshipers were doing then? We could get real deep if we’re talking about depression and cutting themselves even just for worship. It’ll have to be handled in a very sensitive manner.

@corissa doing first person is a good idea. I like your reasoning.
I’m sorry you went through that. <3 I’ve had several suicidal friends and family members, some hospitalized, but none have fully gone through with it. Depression is a horrible, horrible thing. I’m sure you’ll give some really good input, though it might be painful for you to read. <3

Greetings Saxon Scribes,
I’m really excited about this new prompt war because I think it’ll be a great learning experience and result in some wonderful submissions.
Our goal is to write a story where we bring out the beauty of something ordinary in the middle of a very dramatic setting.
Unfortunately, I’ll be out of state during much of this,…[Read more]
