Lance yawned and slipped into his aisle seat near the back of the plane. By the time the stewardesses were droning through the safety briefing, he was drifting. When they walked by to check seatbelts and tables, he was asleep.

When the drop started and his stomach crawled into his throat, he flashed wide-eyed awake.
