Hi Ashley,
If I were to hazard a guess, I think I just used the comment reply on the message itself, so that may be why my American Lit query wasn’t showing up in the general Forum feed.
It should show on your personal Activity page below the initial reply you made to this feed. (I’m kinda learning this stuff too, as I go.) -

Wow this has been extremely helpful in clarifying the Plotter & Panster and how I feel and now know I am going to be. It’s been so very hard trying to fit the square block into the circle hole that I was silly trying to be a Plotter when I am a Panster! The more I plot and outline the more I run out of steam and desire. I sure would like to be the…[Read more]

@esmeralda-gramilton Whoa, that is extremely interesting! I love plots with relationships and this whole Bonding thing has really drawn me in. Is there any way to break off a Bond? Are your main characters human or humans and dragons?
@arindown Those all seem really fun. They do sound like they’d spice up the story a whole lot.

Hi Ashley!
Your quote got my attention:
What British and Russian authors do you like?
Of Russian authors, I have read Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s “Brothers Karamazov”, etc. and Anton Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard”, and Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn “The Gulag Archipelago”, and some parts of Leo Tolstoy’s works, to name a few. We sometimes…[Read more] -

@ashley-tegart Oh nice! Any authors you admire? I love Dostoyevsky most, I think. What are the monsters like?
@obrian-of-the-surface-world Oh, cool! I’ve been looking into doing blog serials. Do you have any tips? Wow, your life sounds busy. I’m glad you’ve been able to write, though!

Hi Linyang,
I first heard about blog novels back when I learned that Andy Weir’s “The Martian” began that way, before it was picked up by a publisher and later made into the Matt Damon movie by the same title.
That idea intrigued me, so I found out what Blogs were…I’m so out of touch..😜…and found that I could just get a free Blog on…[Read more]-
At this point, I have to ask you, are you a pastor or something?
Currently I’ve been examining several web fiction platforms, WordPress being one of them, and I’ve decided to try and publish different works on different sites. Only problem with me, though, is I feel this need to actually either finish a work before posting it or at least have a…[Read more] -
I am a pastor’s son, but I am not one myself. My dad has been in ministry for 40+ years and we have been active in our church. I went to college, got a degree in British and American Literature and minored in Art & Design, but I work in none of those fields, oddly enough. I am a bit of a techie, but not so much familiar with Blog platforms and…[Read more]

Plotters like to know where they’re going, Pansters like the sense of the total unknown.
However, there is a large spectrum of area between Panster and Plotter. For instance, most pansters have some sort of small outline or synopsis to know what the book is about and who the characters are. As for plotters, the amount of which…[Read more]

@ashley-tegart Very interesting! I do have a love for British and Russian literature. What aspects would you say you draw from them?
@obrian-of-the-surface-world Ah, yes, guilds…I miss my Erekdale. Wow, all three of these dragons sound very cool. I love how you have Bible verses from which they are based. And which themes in particular would y…[Read more]

I read The False Prince and its sequel (I think?) a few years ago, but never finished the series! I’ve heard good things about The Ranger’s Apprentice!
Awesome! Yes, the concept behind Ranger’s Apprentice is quite good, though there are some things I would have done differently. The False Prince was great!
My favorite fantasy books…

Your WIP sounds very cool! What are some of your favorite fantasy books?
*Produces a scroll and unfurls it. It reaches the floor* Ahem! Here we go!
I love Ranger’s Apprentice and Brotherband Chronicles by John Flanagan. They’re slightly lacking in several aspects, but still very enjoyable!
The False Prince by Jennifer Nielsen.…[Read more]

Character sketches sound interesting, I’ll try one of those sometime. Thanks for sharing that!

Hi Noah,
Here one of the Koontz-ian simile from “Night Window” Chapter 28.
“In Arizona, the sky was as dry as the land below, salted with stars, the moon a bitten Communion wafer.”Here’s a Koontz-ian metaphor from “Life Expectancy” Chapter 9:

Hi, @ashley-tegart !
I purchased by website theme from creativemarketplace.com. It’s a great place to find awesome-looking, more professional themes and the ones I’ve used were fairly easy to install and customize. And as for post photos, I’ve just been using the option WordPress gives to find free stock photos from Pexel. 🙂 Hope that helps!

Till We Have Faces is a great read. I have several C.S. Lewis books and got The Chronicles of Narnia when I was years old which put me on my writing journey…long, long ago…in a galaxy far, far away… [sorry, got distracted there.]
A lot of my fiction tastes are blended genres, but I love biblical mysteries and have researched…[Read more] -

What’s the premise of your current WIP?
I’ve been writing for just over a year, how long have you been writing?
