@anne_the_noob14 I’m actually not sure what kind of fabric it is. I got it from a sale at a church and there were no labels on it. It’s not thin like cotton and is relatively durable. (It might be linen, but I can’t say for sure.) Any fabric would probably work as long as you have enough of it. I used gabardine for a red cloak and it turned out…[Read more]

@anne_the_noob14 I pronounce it CAY-don. He lives in a medieval fantasy-type world. 🙂 Oh, poor Lucas! I can see how that experience would be scarring! Though that gives me an idea. We should have a storm come up while Caedon and Lucas are in the library. I’d love to see both their reactions.
Your entry is perfect! Lucas getting there first…[Read more]

Inktober Day 12: “Dragon”

Inspired partially by the picture in my profile. 🙂

@catwing “Swing” appears to be some sort of Mad Hatter party where two of the subjects are casually sipping tea while the others are trying to keep from flying at each other’s throats. And there’s a kitty. Bonus points for the kitty. My initial thought was “mood swing” but I suspect I’m way off. xD

Character chats don’t count for the word war, do they? @daeus-lamb

@anne_the_noob14 Ooh, Lucas sounds really cool! I like the botany part. It sounds like he might get along well with Caedon, one of my newest charries.
So here’s him:
Caedon of Solina is a very quiet, solemn twelve-year old with dark hair and blue-green eyes. Even when he was a baby he was always serious. He loves nature and enjoys watching…[Read more]

@elisha-starquill I used this pattern! Cloaks are simpler than a dress, for instance, but it can still be tricky if you don’t read the instructions. (Basically, don’t try to cut out fabric at eleven o’clock at night. 😛 ) You’ll need cloak fabric plus lining fabric, though for the green one I only used lining on the hood. (It’s probably better to…[Read more]

@steward-of-the-pen Yay! And sure, I’ll bring in Caedon to start us off.

@sageinthemeadow Those are lovely! I especially like how in “Swing” and “Enchanted” you made the objects stand out on the black background.

@steward-of-the-pen There, I did it. Was that what you meant? I just took the idea and ran with it. xD

At the center of Parimi Alca, where all biomes and genres converge, a splendid structure stands high on a hill. A remnant of ages past, it has remained untouched from the very foundation of the world. The ancient stonework, a medley of different architecture, most resembles a Victorian castle. Enter through a door of weathered green wood and you…[Read more]

@steward-of-the-pen Okay, I understand what you mean. I might have to try that. Sometimes I have only bits and pieces of stories bouncing around in my head. It stands to reason that if I write those down immediately instead of waiting for more inspiration, it will help me figure out the rest.
How could I turn down an opportunity to discuss…

@steward-of-the-pen Nice! That’s a good amount. So you skip around when writing? That’s a strategy I’ve never actually tried. Well, besides that time I wrote the final scene of one book before the beginning of it was even in the works. 😛
I made it to a tricky part in my editing. I know I have to delete a few paragraphs because they’re (to put it…[Read more]

@banana-peacock-warrior Hey there! Nice name. I like all three of those poems that you posted, but I think my favorite would be the second. The rhythm and dialogue are good. (Side note, the third has a great message and strong emotion. That would be my second choice for a submission. 🙂 )

@deeprun *winces* I understand. Digital art can be tricky. (Seriously, those skin tones!) Good job on that most recent picture. What was the prompt for it?
And yeah, I’m behind a few days, too. It’s mostly because I couldn’t think of anything to draw based on the prompts. I managed to do one today, though.
Makes me wonder what that guy…

@steward-of-the-pen Not watercolor, though I have considered doing that for Inktober. I diluted the ink with water to get the lighter shades. 🙂
Here are a couple more of my favorite Inktober drawings:
Day 7: Enchanted

And today’s, Snow.

Inktober Day 8: “Frail”

I messed up a little bit on this one by trying to put too much detail into the face. My attempts ended with a giant wet blotch where I tried to “erase” the dry ink with water. 😛 You don’t see the full extent of the mistake because I touched it up with an editing program. (I don’t think that’s against the rules.) At…[Read more]
