On that note…
If we haven’t started on a draft in 24 hours, I’m probably just going to start writing. Just so that we definitely have something to hand in. *fingerguns* Ideally, I let you guys write the first draft so that you can practice and grow, but having something happening is the no. 1 priority.

Dude.
Your pets are brutal. O.o
But congrats on your SE story submission! I’m glad to hear that it’s coming along well.
What I read – Sadly, I have to set aside reading because I’m just too busy at the moment and don’t need any more stress. After this month though, I should be able to pick up the pastime again. 😛

@trufflehunter @taylorclogston Okay, thanks! That makes sense.
@j-a-penrose Oooh. Right. I’ve heard of many of those before. Gaslamp? Political? These all sound interesting. I’ll have to look into them. (:

@taylorclogston I didn’t think poetry was your thing, but I wasn’t sure. Thank you so much for reading! I’m glad you enjoyed it.

I’m going to invade Jess’s guild for a minute because I’m very sorry to hear that you’ve had a bad experience with editors. From what you’ve said, it sounds like whoever you worked with wasn’t qualified, which I’m afraid is the case with many alleged “professional” editors. A line editor should do much more for your prose than c…[Read more]

@taylorclogston If you’re questioning regarding different editors, and whether they are as good as they appear, I’d instantly suggest tapping into your amazing resource of writer friends. A lot of us have had experience with some amazing editors, and would be happy to point you to reliable people who we actually like and are willing to…[Read more]

As Christlover has said, guys, I reckon it’s time for us to get writing!
For all of you old-timers, (You’re over a year old, some of you. Yikes!) you should be pretty familiar with the routine, and it would be great if you keep things going smoothly through the rather chaotic drafting process that’s about to ensue.
The doc we’ll be writing in is…[Read more]

Hello Parimis!
While I’m here, I just wanted to thank you all for being so good with being active and commenting and helping each other out with things. I’m quite often not replying to things, and it’s just great to see you all doing it instead! <3
Moving on. Today’s lesson comes from my awesome cousin, Jane, who does a lot with editing,…[Read more]

@j-a-penrose I hate writing short stories for school, because there’s always a pathetically small word count that I have to work with o-o
@taylorclogston I published the first one last year in January, but it definitely wasn’t ready for it. I’ve been rewriting it, and the story has transformed ever since then. I’m planning on republishing the…[Read more]

@taylorclogston I don’t know much about marketing but I guess that makes sense. The readers are told the next book is related to the one they already bought…
Yes! I got some writing in. (:

Hello all!
If you haven’t seen our guild home page, you definitely should check it out. And I know that the running list of current members is completely wrong, but I plan to get Daeus onto that soon. (Or get his permission to let me fix it.)
However, what I want to draw your attention to, is that I’ve talked about ‘biomes.’ Back in our ‘[Read more]

@taylorclogston Well, if I find a solution, I’ll be sure to let you know too. xD
By getting up earlier, I wasn’t really sacrificing sleep since I am usually already awake and just lying in bed. I was hoping that getting up to write would also help me be alert and productive earlier, but I guess I need that time to just lie there and think and…[Read more]

Hello everyone!
I recently ran into a school assignment where I had to write a concrete poem about a church. I started with no idea of where I was going with it, so I was kind of surprised at how it came out. I’d love to hear your thoughts, and critique is very welcome.
Here’s the link to the document.

@taylorclogston Hmmm, I tend to find that those extra layers of plotting give me a few more ideas. It also tends to flesh the character arc out to be more gradual that way…
The other thing is that it’s perfectly fine to write novellas! Look at Hope Ann. Her main style is in novella.
(If it’s a comfort to you, my Major Work that I really need…[Read more]

@taylorclogston Ooooh, good job!
Hmm, not sure. I don’t generally have any issues with getting things long enough… Have you tried plotting out all of the chapters, and adding a few more that focus on character development scenes? These will be clunky when they first go in, but then you can get them to flow. Also, when you edit, often your style…[Read more]

@j-a-penrose @ariella-newheart Yippie! Thank you guys! 😀 I’m about to sit down to get in my writing for today. *coughs* Better be accountable and actually go do that. (Thankfully Jess, I don’t have a Pinterest account. But I have heard stories of its wonderfully-terrifying (or would it be terrifyingly-wonderful..) woes. xD)

At the request of @ariella-newheart, Parimi Alca now has a Writers’ Corner! *cheers*Basically, this is just where you say that you are writing, and others who are around can all write with you and hold you accountable on a smaller scale.
I mean, how often do we sit down to write and find ourselves scrolling through Pinterest boards of different…[Read more]
