@j-a-penrose I hate writing short stories for school, because there’s always a pathetically small word count that I have to work with o-o

@taylorclogston I published the first one last year in January, but it definitely wasn’t ready for it. I’ve been rewriting it, and the story has transformed ever since then. I’m planning on republishing the first book this year 😃 It’s called The Storm Inside, and is more of a fantasy genre. If you want, I run a blog and have an email list for it where I like to share snippets and stuff for whatever I happen to be working on 😛 I can always share a link if anyone is interesting (this is me trying to get myself to actually put myself out there more; I know that I have to if I ever want to grow, but it always feels weird, so please bear with me here 😂)

@steward-of-the-pen That… actually sounds like a cool thing to try. I want to blindfold myself now 😆

@evelyn I don’t know very much about marketing either, but I’ve been trying to get some research in 😛 I think the biggest thing is that only hardcore fans will make it to the end of a series. As a series goes along, usually less and less people end up buying, because only those fans will, so you’ve got to make sure you get people interested in it with the first book and even want the next book in the series. If you do it right, though, I can see it becoming a huge success. Like, you could make other things on the side and those fans will buy those. (eg. merchandise, backstories, short stories about the characters, etc.) Kind of like how there’s a lot of Marvel or Star Wars merchandise, you know? And people love to buy them because they’re such huge fans? *shrug* If you want to make it as a writer, you really need to have more than just books to sell, because it takes a while to write a (good) book and royalty amount won’t cover living expenses unless your J.K. Rowling 😆 That’s why lots of writers like to make courses and merchandise to go with their books. Courses are much more profitable, because you can sell them for much higher prices and get more money while having sell less units, ya know?

I’m looking at how long that paragraph is, and I think I should probably stop typing here, or else you’re all going to be presented with a novel of rambling nonsense 😂
