Lol yes, the snacks are always the win. My horse prefers if I just let her go as fast as she likes…. we do endurance racing, so she likes to go XD. My pony also loves to run but he’s more about barrels lol.
But yes, the language thing is sooooooo annoying. It drives me nuts. XD

That last reason just cracked me up. XD It always annoys me to no end in novels when animals that are supposed to be regular animals act oddly, or with human-like characteristics. (Especially horses, because I own two horses and they never act in such ways nor have I ever seen a horse act in such a way.) But it’s definitely jolting to read such a…[Read more]

So.
I have come to finally answer your question. XD
Okay, so first, since I like my definitions, let’s look at exactly what a passive character is. According to our wonderful friend the internet, a passive character is a person that doesn’t act externally, but instead has all conflict internally. They don’t contribute much…[Read more]

Hmm, well….
Haydn: Also known as Shadow Von Wolfsbane, Haydn is the wolf-captain of Nagaria, and the main antagonist for the first novel in this trilogy. He’s the son of a legendary general Erabrus Von Wolfsbane, and brother of the huntress/assassin Ivanna. Growing up as the elder brother, Haydn was expected to take the crown one…[Read more]

One thing I’d definitely stay away from is attempting to “justify” his amoral personality in any way. It’s not just that he’s done bad things–we all have. But amorality in it’s very, most base essence, is simply avoiding consequence of any sin because if it doesn’t matter to you, it can’t effect you. It’s attempting to…[Read more]

*squints at you and Faith*
Have you been stalking me? Because that sounds awfully similar to my life. XD
To be honest though, while I can spend pretty much all day analyzing things or world-building or creating characters or researching…. actually writing is hard. Really, really hard. For one, I haven’t found a “voice” that I prefer…[Read more]

Sarah Inkdragon replied to the topic Comparative Titles in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years ago
To be honest, it very much depends on what books it’s being compared too. For example, ‘Divergent meets Twilight” would probably be a huge turn off for me because neither of those two books were something that every intrigued me or that I enjoyed.
I write fantasy, and I’ve found that usually it’s pretty hard to find a good…[Read more]

Hmm, probably fantasy or sci-fi. There’s so much you can do with the world-building in either of those settings, especially for magic systems. Steampunk is also great, but it’s a little more limited due to the setting.

Thank you!
Hmm, my favorite thing about writing would probably be creating characters, and world-building. I’m a huuuuuuge world-building nerd, and I love politics and social-economic relations, government systems, trade systems, etc. Characters are also super fun because I love creating interesting people. XD I love a complex world…[Read more]

Ooh, more questions. To be honest, this is a really interesting subject that I love thinking about, so I’ll talk about it as much as I can. XD
First off, I like his interest in philosophy, but there’s one small issue that I think you should really think about. How does he come into contact with the resources to read/study…[Read more]

I’d definitely recommend Dianne Wynne Jones, though a slight warning she does write mainly surrounding the “witch and wizard” aspect of magic, so if that’s not for you you may not enjoy her. She’s very good with humor, story, and all around just a good wacky read when you need it. 😉
Oh, did Hope release Healer’s Bane? I hadn’t seen.…[Read more]

Nice to meet you! I’m Sarah-Inkdragon, also known as Sink, Sarah, Ink, and that random child who likes to analyze everything.
What’s your favorite fantasy novel(s)/series? Do you like Tolkien and C.S. Lewis? I’m a huge fan of both those two really, as well as Sanderson, Dianne Wynne Jones, and Lloyd Alexander.
What genre do you…[Read more]

Ooh, this is an interesting concept!
Amoral, by definition, is to lack moral sense or be unconcerned with morals. So first off, you need to decide if your character is completely lacking morals, or just ignores them. There’s a large difference between someone who doesn’t know what morals are than someone who willingly…[Read more]

Oh dear, running out of books… I’d try Hope Ann’s novellas if I were you, they sound right up your alley. (She’s on SE btw). (Also I’m eagerly awaiting the day she publishes her full-length WIP that I’ve been wanting to read for years now lol)
And if you like hi-fi stuff, Man O’ War by Walter Farley is a great book that I…[Read more]

I think a lot of the test has to do with how you understand writing mechanics more than actual writing, because I mean, I can take it and get advanced as well because I know how to write character arcs and what makes a good antagonist and what looks like good/bad writing…. but that doesn’t mean all of that is always applied to…[Read more]
