It’s time to start writing! Sorry I am getting this out so late in the day. In our brainstorming doc, we came up with a really awesome premise of a female alien attempting to romance a human. Unfortunately, it seems that we don’t have many people that can be a writer this month. It’s completely understandable—school is starting and August is a very busy month. However, it does make writing this story a little harder. I see three options that will still have us end up with a story.

1. We go with it, see who starts writing, and hope we end up with a complete story. I’m thinking that this option would mean someone is going to have to take responsibility on themselves and put a good bit of time into writing this story, and we will have little time for editing.

2. We write a scene based off the premise. No set-up, a single conversation, quick and easy. We have a maximum word count (2500 words) but not a minimum word count. We don’t put a lot of work into the draft and most of the time will go to making the little we have really good.

3. I think I can wipe out a quick story about the literal physical manifestation of two countries arguing over which is better (Soccer vs football, metric vs whatever the US has, fahrenheit vs celsius, etc) the argument gets around to which national animal is better, the animals appear in order to face off, but suddenly a dragon appears, eats both national animals, and then whichever country has that as it’s national animal beats both other countries. It’s very basic, very short, but it has the benefit of being quick to write so at least we will have a story.

What are y’all’s thoughts? Whatever we choose, remember that the writing deadline is Wednesday so we have time for editing.
