@corissa π Thank you! Ah yes, I remember college, it’s very skilled at keeping people occupied. So what kind of stories do you write? π

Another possible reader?! I’m delighted. Aloud I say, “Thank you! So what current project have you been working on?”
Knowing the bit about her that I do I’m certain it will be something intriguing. Excitedly, I await her response.

Seeing another straggler, I beckon for her to join me and Bama. “Come and chat with us. We’re discussing our writing.” I invite.I’m not much for crowds, but a small group of three ought to be fun.

I give a little somewhat shy laugh, as we begin following the others.
“I doubt that, I don’t think my book is good enough to be in there yet. But that’s okay, I didn’t expect it to be yet. Writing is a life long process and I don’t expect to be really, really good until I’m in my fifties. But hopefully if I keep working hard at it…[Read more]

I felt rather flattered. The story was difficult for me, especially since I had read very little steampunk myself. To hear that someone found it interesting was gratifying.“Thank you Bama. I’ve been working very hard on that Series. I hadn’t found that many good steampunk books to study, so it’s been a difficult process. Sometimes I…[Read more]

Thanks for encouraging us all to stay productive. πΒ I don’t know about everyone else, but I feel like I needed it. Yesterday I was able to reorganize my chapters, spot the gaps in my plot, and get a much better grasp at where I’m at in this project.Β Today I’m going to see if I can fill in more of those gaps. I pause, hearing this poem. Poetry in it’s finest form. The imagery, the flow of the language, the philosophical tone, stop me in my tracks. Moved as if by the lyrics of a beautiful yet somewhat mournful song. I clap.
I have written poems before but none like that.
And cookies yay!

My goal isn’t to type more words but to better organize and review whatever I need to fix in my 2nd story. So by the end of these week, my goal is to have finished reorganizing and if I don’t have the story ready to be shown to my beta reader, to have a clear plan of whatever I need to do to fix that. π

Rachel replied to the topic What do you want to study next? in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 7 months ago
Wow, okay. π Hmm…well I would be very interested if you did a topic about themes. You could talk about the process by which you come up with your themes and how it is introduced into your story. I know themes have been discussed on story embers before, but I still struggle with the step by step process of it.

I nod. “I know what you mean, nicknames are tricky things, I once knew a guy that kept calling me Rach. Just Rach. Never liked it. It just never seemed to fit. But when I had to be called by my middle name to defrienate between myself and a different Rachel, it never bothered me.”Sipping my tea, I collect my thoughts. “I find my…[Read more]

I laugh at the universally shared option of raisin cookies. Due to all the memes I had heard on the subject I doubted anyone made raisin cookies anymore except as pranks for friends or coworkers. Or perhaps sweet old grandmas such as mine.
But what struck me was the line ‘Uniqueness doesnβt define awesomeness.’Β The quote rings out in…[Read more]

@germaine-han Who doesn’t like chocolate cookies? I wonder with a smile.

I add a spoonful of honey, and hold the cup out to Bama.
“Alabama, that’s quite a name, I like it. It has a very solid but pretty sound to it. Yes, Rachel is my name. It’s a bit less unique, by this time I have lost count of all the other Rachels I have met.”

I try to motivate myself by setting daily writing goals and occasionally finding someone to keep me accountable. π And I was advised that if I start having a hard time focusing on writing, that I should get up and walk around for ten minutes or so. I hope Eden knows the kitchen is to the right. But on the bright side, if she does happen to go left, then when she returns to us she can tell us what’s down that way. Anything could be down that way. The great library, an armory, or it could even lead out to the gardens.@bama-rose

@kate Hearing everyone talking about raspberries, I slip out of the room. My mission is now to find the kitchen and see if has any berries. After all, who doesn’t like fresh raspberries? And in the off case they don’t, certainly I can find something else for them.
I return from my mission, having successfully found both the kitchens and…[Read more]
