@daeus-lamb From what I remember of the Silmarillion, the elves represented the idea of immortality? And death is seen as a gift to humans. I don’t think that’s quite what you were talking about, but that’s what struck me as interesting from the book.
For those of us who invent our own worlds, we have a great opportunity to point to certain truths…

@scarletimmortalized Oh, that’s cool! It’s great that you want to know more about your heritage. Unfortunately… I’m not Korean, so I don’t think I’m going to be of very much help.
I don’t have other stories about South Korean culture; this is my first π
@cassandraia Aahh, I see xD I think that you can want to learn more about a culture by way…[Read more]

@scarletimmortalized Hey there! As @eden-anderson mentioned, I did write New Wessex’s guild war entry this time. Thanks – I’m glad you liked it π
The reason I chose South Korea is because I mainly follow figure skating, and I wanted to choose a country that isn’t one of those that dominate the figure skating field, but in real life has/could…[Read more]

π π π I’m really happy with how it turned out!! Good job everyone!
*throws confetti and chocolate and boba tea*
Thanks @noahlitle for originating the idea in the first place… and also switching the order around, even at last minute π But I’m sure it made the story stronger.
@eden-anderson Aww, thank you π Even though it was quite some…[Read more]

@daeus-lamb I actually don’t know if audio books work for me… this is interesting. But sometimes my mom does listen to talks or podcasts so I agree that it is a pretty passive activity. I will have to check it out π
My research hacks (from limited experience) include incorporating what I already know into my writing, and only going for…[Read more]

@eden-anderson Thanks π I guess I learned that to some degree, IΒ can write an emotionally charged conversation. I’ve always been scared to do it before.
@bama-rose Yeah, I think the nod at the end added a lot of power to the ending π It was a good touch!

@noahlitle You gave me a bit of a panic attack when I woke up this morning π But I worked in your suggestions, and I think it’s still on time. Thank you!
@daeus-lamb The document is updated and ready to go!

@bama-rose Don’t worry about it. We all learned something new, which is great π
@daeus-lamb I’m going to sleep over here, so here is the draft as final as I can get it:Β https://docs.google.com/document/d/12GYU8Kcy0Iv6D6ZFs2E39JjkKOFFFIPC8alipiZfx5s/edit

Hey guys, I’ve just finished going through the draft again. The ending is slightly different, and a bit about the bracelet has been moved to the beginning, so if you want to check it out and see what you think?

Hey guys, I’m sorry I didn’t get too much done today, but I’m hoping to go over the whole thing a second time and tighten up the wording in the next couple of days. If there’s any place you were confused, you think we could put in more/less information, or anything, please go ahead and comment, and even use the suggesting tool to directly edit the…[Read more]

Also, does anyone have any thoughts on the title? It vaguely reflects the ending and is a reference to the gold medal, except that resolving the conflict is better…
I wrote it on the spur of the moment, so it might be also “too happy” or perhaps not meaningful enough.

@bama-rose Thanks! I don’t really know the culture either, but I’m doing my best since I follow figure skating and know a bit of what they do.
And I’ll think about them glancing at each other. My reasons for not including anything like that (yet) are that since we’re trying to make it non-cliche, hopefully the peace that Min has after being…[Read more]

Here’s Draft 1! Obviously it’s still a long way from being coherent, but I just want to show this to you all and see what you think.
- Does the setting/background make sense? Have I appeared to stereotype any culture?
- Is the conflict between the characters…

@eden-anderson Thank you! I agree with Noah not agreeing with you about you not being helpful (aka you were helpful)… haha π
@noahlitle *nods* Okay. I don’t think I would be happy doing consistent flashbacks, but I’ll try to do it enough so that the audience can see the parallels between that conversation and this one. I’ll do it with italics…[Read more]

Sorry for being off for so long. Yesterday, I couldn’t access the forum thread (orΒ anyΒ forum thread) but it seems to be back on today. I went ahead and did some prewriting, though.
So what I have right now is a story about a figure skater, who’s story has been about switching coaches and working his way through all the new struggles to finally l…[Read more]

@noahlitle Okay, I’m glad I understood the concept. I see what you mean, that it would be comparing two events, in the past and the present. My concern about being complicated mostly has to do with how we choose to format this, because I don’t want to confuse the reader with alternating clips in the present and then snippets of flashback. The idea…[Read more]

@noahlitle What I think your idea is is that we have your MC. In the past, he was the villain, and he was fighting a hero and lost because of his weakness of trying to be the best. Now, he’s the hero, fighting a villain and is going to win because of his ability to conquer that weakness. The story would be cutting back and forth between the past…[Read more]

@daeus-lamb This is one of the most fascinating articles (or articles-to-be) that I have read recently. Sadly, schoolwork has put off any larger WIP for a later time, so I would probably only be able to use this to a small extent in short pieces.
I have actually done some of this in terms of oaths, especially after I noticed the use of oaths in…[Read more]
