Sorry for being off for so long. Yesterday, I couldn’t access the forum thread (or any forum thread) but it seems to be back on today. I went ahead and did some prewriting, though.

So what I have right now is a story about a figure skater, who’s story has been about switching coaches and working his way through all the new struggles to finally land gold at this important competition (the climax). The reason he switched coaches was because he became jealous of his teammate, who won everything previously, so he switched coaches to try to pursue what he thought was overlooked potential. Since then, he’s made up with his former coach, but not his teammate. The story would be set in a celebration banquet after the event, and he runs into his teammate there, and they make up.

What I’m hoping would make this is non-cliche is that their conversation is (or appears to be) strained and cold. Neither of them smiles, and they don’t laugh and hug or anything, because the pain is still too deep. But then (because they’ve been best friends before, and know each other deeply) they realize that they don’t hold anything against the other, and they’ve forgiven each other. This can be demonstrated by his rival maybe slipping something into his hand, like a friendship bracelet (or I don’t know) — and then the MC realizes that he’s been forgiven, and that realization is happier than any of the celebration or festivities going on around them.

I hope that made sense? I also hope that this doesn’t become too technical or too complicated to introduce.

Please tell me if you think there’s anything I should add, or if explaining the whole figure skating thing would be too complicated. It’s just the situation I’ve put this in, but we can always do a similar friend-to-friend reconciliation in a different setting. Or if you think the friend-to-friend reconciliation is too cliche, or not happy enough, we can change that up too.

The document is here in case I lose access to the forum again: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12GYU8Kcy0Iv6D6ZFs2E39JjkKOFFFIPC8alipiZfx5s/edit?usp=sharing

I’ll try to get a first draft done within two days or so. Thank you guys!
