@papergirlsfb I have this problem too! I’m almost to scared to buy YA books because I’m afraid I will just have to throw it away again. It really is a shame.

This is the first time I’m opening a thread so I’m hoping all goes well!
I’ve been wanting to get into poetry for a while. I would love to combine my illustrations with it or even write a childrens book using rhyme. I’m a little insecure about it. Actually I’m insecure about most of my writing, especially English stuff. The main story I’m working…[Read more]

@the-fledgling-artist Man I just love your style! I think the colors are great. Looking at it he comes of as smart, reserved, maybe a little introverted but I feel like he knows his stuff ya know. The redish belt gives him a brave look, making him look like a knight indeed. I really like him! (:

@thewirelessblade I’m sorry for your loss. Will be praying for your family.
It wasn’t far anymore. Just two steps, maybe a little jump after that. The cold wind blew into his sweaty face as he carefully looked over his shoulder into the valley. This was nothing he had not done before, right? The ground was just a little farther below. Every beat o…

@h-jones I don’t mind you tagging me! I like babbling about art haha. Also, I think your experiment looks really good!

@h-jones I painted in oils every now and then and I was being super nervous about them as well. Mainly because of the paint thinner haha. However I use watermixable oils now. They’re the best and I really recommend them!
It works just the same as regular oil paint (and they are the same, oils mixed with pigments), the only difference being that…[Read more]

@h-jones Wow that’s great Heather! A lot has been said already so I hope I can still add something.
It helps to keep in mind that every artist you admire probably started in the same place you are right now. So try not to compare yourself to artist thinking that they’re much better than you, because they also have tons of work they don’t feel…[Read more]

Lin replied to the topic Help with Good, Grabbing Plotlines in the forum Apprentice Island Writing Discussions 7 years, 5 months ago
@introverted-elf Hi there! Plots can definitely be tricky sometimes, but if you like creating characters than maybe it can help to think about it like this: What does my main character want, what is stopping her from getting it and what does she have to do to overcome those obstacles? For me that’s usually a good place to start!

Here’s a little one I made in my sketchbook this afternoon, based on psalm 23. The words next to the illustration are Dutch. It says; The Lord is my shepherd.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of ri…[Read more]
