@emma-starr Thanks, but may I ask which one? 😅

@kb-writer Wow, really? Thank you so much! I literally thought it up on a car ride yesterday, thinking how nice the word friend sounds, and looking at the late afternoon sun shining on the fields.
(It’s kinda funny that a poem that made me feel warm gave you the goosebumps.) 😉

@kb-writer *reverts back to Anne Shirley-ish position* “Ms. Baker, you have given me great hope. I shall always think of you as my benefactress…..”
Anyway, thank you for your kind comments. I don’t think making someone feel bad about eating the meat of domestic avifauna is good poetry, but I thank you for your graciousness. 😊

How good it sounds to hear you call me friend!
It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside,
Like sipping a hot cup of sunshine
With my soul.
@kb-writer I’ve felt that way at times… haven’t we all? Your poem captures it well.

@h-jones Oh, good! Whew! Besides being blunt, I also have a tendency to worry too much. XD Oh, boy…. We introverts have issues…
Anyway, I think your poem has great metaphors and meaning. It’s kinda inspired a picture in my head that I want to try to draw, but I’m an amateur artist. 🙂

@h-jones Hey, sorry if I came off a little strong. I have a tendency to be really blunt.
Actually, I got the imagery of being inside a courtyard or something, and there’s nothing wrong with betwixt or inside, whichever word you want to use. (Perhaps it will give the image that the speaker wishes to stay inside his “comfort zone” so to sp…[Read more]

@h-jones That is so beautiful. I like the way you left out the capitalization; it’s always neat to be able to create something beyond the limits of English grammar. One thing I noticed was slightly incongruous was how it started as an “afternoon betwixt the walls” and suddenly became the “moon cascading… through the night.” As for the s…[Read more]

@evelyn I think you don’t have to have quotation marks at the beginning of each line as long as it’s the same person. Just make sure you have them when the person begins speaking, and then again when he finishes. If the monologue takes up a few paragraphs, you can begin each paragraph with quotation marks but not end with them until he fi…[Read more]

@libby I could never get tired of reading your poetry, so don’t stop!
Keep expressing yourself, because you do it in such a beautiful way. Remember that it’s what David did in Psalms. His cries and prayers to God still touch millions of people today. (I’ll keep praying for you. 🙂 )

Emily Dickinson’s poems are so sweet! I memorized “There is No frigate” and “Chartless.”
I also enjoyed Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Alfred, Lord Tennyson, and @kb-writer‘s Raindrop Eyes and yes, Graham Jackson’s Billows was wowerful.

@kb-writer A peace offering. And then I promise I won’t bother you any more. 😉 Here’s a (hopefully) funny piece I wrote:
The Critic
For her a pumpkin spice latte
For me a plain black coffee…
Well, hello, yourself. What am I doing? Well, I’m writing a poem.
See? It’s called “A Coffee Shop.” That’s boring? Well, why don’t you come u…[Read more]

@introverted-elf Hey, there, fellow introvert here. I haven’t been here very long either, but welcome to Story Embers! Nice profile pic, by the way. I also like to observe people, because their mannerisms are fascinating. But at a safe distance. 😉

@evelyn Aww, thanks! (I just changed it today. 😉) It was the front of a thank-you card I made. I used little bits of paper from a magazine, kind of like a mosaic.

“Now I feel bad…” and on it goes
This endless chain of guilt.
Let me stop this cycle and end
This pain that I built.
Let’s put aside this hideous ghost,
And I’ll think twice before I post.

@evelyn @kb- writer Thank you both so much! Coming from more experienced poets than me, the compliments mean a lot. 😊 I’m glad it was easy to follow.
