@erynne
If it’s something you would read, would you like to Alpha read for me? -

That’s going to turn out very cool! Totally sounds like something I would read

Thank you for the suggestions!
yes there is a good reason for them to flee to the uncle. So at the ball Mia wanders off and sees her stepmother and the earl together. She hears them talking about an evil plot (haven’t totally figured that out yet) Mia goes and tells Gabriel, but him, the loyal son that he is, doesn’t believe her right…[Read more]

Hope you don’t mind me popping in!
I really like everything about it! I do agree with Gracie though. If you made that change it would make it really neat! I do have a couple questions about it though. Is there a reason that Mia and Gabriel have to flee to the good uncle? And this is just pure curiosity, does Mia have something…[Read more]

Ya the illegitimate is a way I’m changing it up and that is a reason the mother is so spiteful…but I could have it that her identity is just hidden. Actually I really like that! If you want to read it, I could add you to the doc and you could be an Alpha reader as I write it…if you would like that just shoot an email to this address…[Read more]

Sounds cool to me. I love fairy-tale retellings, so I might be a little biased.😄
I’m wondering what the point of her being an illegitimate daughter is. Is it going to be important later in the story? Also…just a random idea…what if she wasn’t actually illegitimate, but her father was hiding her true identity?
Can’t wait…[Read more]

Ok, so there is a bit of a story behind this romance before I tell my plot. So a year or two ago I decided that I wanted to try my hand at writing a Cinderella retelling. The only problem was that I don’t really like the fairy fairytale with all the magic. So I decided I was going to write it in medieval England, Germany, France, or Italy. I pu…[Read more]

I do have to agree with where @legomaiego is going. And even though I gave some books with romance that weren’t too romantic, they aren’t really romances. If you are going to read a romance you will most likely have to deal with kissing, romance, etc. It’s just kinda part of the romance part of romance…

@legomaiego I wasn’t really trying to redefine “clean romance”. I was just looking for a romance that wasn’t too romantic, if that makes any sense. I’m a newcomer to the romance genre—and at least at the time of writing the initial post in this thread—I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I wanted “romance lite” (shall we say) without excessive mus…[Read more]

Thanks for the advice and I will seriously consider it.
And when I said not having the time and money for the stuff you mentioned, I didn’t mean that I don’t have time to write, which I do have some for. I meant more that I may not have the pedigrees and bells and whistles that more experienced self publishers have.
But thanks, and I will con…[Read more]

If you really want to put “better Christian fiction” in the hands of readers (which is an admirable goal!), you want to make sure that it’s actually as good as you can make it. The many rounds of editing and the feedback, at least, are non-negotiable. And there’s nothing wrong with waiting to publish until you can do it well. Your…[Read more]

Ok thanks guys.
The advice was great but guys, as I’m finishing up my freshman year in high school, in the middle of a move, and will soon be tied up in football, I have neither the time nor the money to do all that, with a team, and the other stuff. While I don’t want this to be rushed, I wrote this book so that there would be better Chr…[Read more]

I think @zee and @arindown made good points here. I read this thread a long time ago, and been trying to figure out how to help. Okay, here I go~

Okay, I’m really confused by some things in this thread (and sub-forum in general). ^^;; I’m past adolescence and writing romance, so I guess part of my confusion is coming from this angle.
What on earth do you all mean by “weird stuff” and “kissing,” or am I clueless? By “kissing,” are you talking graphic description of one of the many ways a…[Read more]

Okie doke. There’s a lot to unpack here.
First, don’t treat self-publishing like a fast-track. Self-publishing, when done with care and invested in properly, can take a long time. Not as long as traditional publishing (that is part of the reason I went the self-pub route, also), but still a long time. So don’t rush. If you rush,…[Read more]

Sorry, i should have specified. At least what i’ve read is that teenage writers have those odds, just cause they dont have as much experience or talent.
