A Stray Drop of Blood by Roseanna M. White was the first one that popped into my mind.
Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe is definitely another.
I wrote a short story about the thief on the cross with Jesus, so that’s not technically Easter, but it’s in the same weekend.

Today’s post was written by Brandon Miller, my fellow Nebraskan.
How and What to Read as Writers:
Okay so, we’re all writers, right? We weave words and spin tales and generally have a good go at reality. For most of us though, our love for stories started on the other side of the experience — as readers. Now that we’re writing, it’s sometimes…[Read more]

Actually, Star Wars. The whole Anakin/Darth Vader thing reminds me of Christ’s death and Resurrection. When Anakin became Darth Vader, Anakin essentially “died”, and then when Darth Vader became Anakin again to save Luke, it’s like when Christ rose from the grave.
And, actually my main WIP rn is an allegory.

Today’s topic is, What to Do When You’re Not Writing: Cultivating the eye of an artist by Martin Detwiler.
When we sit down at our desks and take up our pens, ready to mark down the next few hundred words, what is the mindset that has filled up all the space on either side of our writing? That is, do we consider ourselves writers, artists – illu…[Read more]

Hey guys. Today we are getting some advice from Faith Blum on how to balance all the business of life, family, and writing.
24 hours. 1,440 minutes. 86,400 seconds. That’s how much time we have each day. And yet, it seems like we never have enough hours, minutes, or seconds to get everything done. What do you do when you can’t seem to squ…[Read more]

Great suggestions! I like your idea about the act of being bailed out being what gets the ballrolling, not nessisarily the words said. I’ll see if I can add some of that tonight! 🙂

Here’s the google doc page! Feel free to tear it apart. I know it’s not great, and if you feel particular plot points need to be rewritten I’m not against it. I’ll still be editing it too.…[Read more]

Beta reading discussion, round 2, by Daeus.
Beta reading is a great way to make friends, help others, and even polish your skills.
Today, I want to give you some tips so that, when you beta read, the friend you’re working for will be thrilled they asked for your help.
Anyone who harbors private opinions about why one story is better than a…[Read more]

Hey guys, this post is just to let you know I’ll be missing in action probably most of this next week. If you need me make sure you specifically tag me, because I won’t be checking in on things regularly.

Not to worry. Better late that never! All your suggestions sound great! I like the idea of changing the gender and/or changing the sin (I think those make the story unique without affecting the message. What sin should we use? Not that this is always…[Read more]

Alright guys. Today starts another prompt war. Same rules as before—2500 word limit, plot it out, then someone writes it. It’s due to be submitted March 24th, and the google docs idea worked well last time.
This wars prompt is: write a believable conversion scene.
I’m just gonna day right now I hate conversion scenes in books, both to read and w…[Read more]
