I love the idea of things hidden below the surface. Of mysterious buried treasures, and ways to implant certain words or innuendos that have either a dual meaning or are indicative of an even larger mystery lurking beneath the surface action of the story.
I was interested in how each of you uses the concept of subtext in your personal writing,…[Read more]

Awesome!! I write fantasy, too. I love it. Huh, wow, that sounds like it would definitely give one mixed feelings! I’m looking forward to/dreading when it’s time to edit mine… XD -

Ouch. That sounds really bad. My brother’s are having the same issue.
CONGRATS!!!!!! What genre is it? And, btw, what is the editing process like?

@MischievousThwapling
My novella is Fantasy!!! The editing process is really satisfying and at the same time really depressing 🤣 I get to see all the awful writing mistakes I’ve made. It’s definitely going to take longer then I thought. Overall though I feel about the same way I did when I was writing the first draft.

Ooh, congratulations!!! That’s always SO exciting. 😀 Editing is a lot of fun, though, I think. Until you realize you made major mistake and have to fix something every few pages. XD

AWWWW!! That was so sweet! The poem at the beginning was a very beautiful and nice touch. The mother/daughter relationship… Awww…
I believe it would be best punctuation wise to cut the comma, replace it with a period, then make the h in He lowercase. Like this: “I’ve got to go,” he said into the phone. (I bolded the c…[Read more]

Thanks! I’ve never liked/been good at grammar:) It’s going to be the death of me someday! I definitely need grammar help 😂 I usually don’t get upset when I get critiques, so no worries here. I’d rather you say something then keep it to yourself anyway;)

Same here!!
Yay, I’m so glad! Thank you SO much for letting me read it! It was wonderful.

That’s awesome!! Have you ever finished a novel? (I assume you meant novels by lots of Fantasy? Or am I misunderstanding 😛 ?)
Hmm. I suppose it depends on what genre your short story is. If it is Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Contemporary Fiction, Romance, Sci-fi, or any of the other genres on here, just post it on one of them and I…[Read more] -

Thanks Thwap! I’ve been interested in writing since I was ten. I mostly wrote poems (they were pretty awful), and I had a couple ideas for novels, but I never actual got serious about writing those down. Now though, I write poetry, short stories, and LOTS of Fantasy.
I do have one question, if I want feed back on one of my short stories what is t…[Read more]-

Yes, I meant novels/novellas when I said Fiction:) I have finished one draft of a novella and am almost done with another first draft of another story. (Slightly confusing, I know) I will definitely tag you! (I just copy and paste you name right?) Thanks for your help! I have thought about what genre it would be, but I think it leans toward…[Read more]
