Jane Maree started the topic {2018 – Week 5} What's YOUR biggest struggle with Prose?? in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 8 years ago
Okay folks, two things:
a) I’m adhd and today is one of those days where my brain does not want to think, so please forgive me.
b) I don’t know what sort of activity to do today?? Because I don’t know what YOUR struggles are.
So on that note, this week, just want to know what your struggles are with the topic of prose. What would you like t…[Read more]

Thank you for taking the time to read it! Yes, I definitely need to work on passive voice…I’m glad you liked it.
Thank you for your comments! I sort of wrote it in one writing, so I could also take the time to review it.
I hope that I can post other short stories as they come by here. And thanks once again!

I agree with @faith_blum though joe always teased her, and stuff, he was pretty sweet with her, specially on the Angle’s Secret (*CRYING OVER SAMUEL* 🙁 :”””'(((((( ), and when he goes off too collage, or like what he says to her right before she leaves to Europe.. or on the book called the Abandon mine, at the very end when…[Read more]

Jane Maree replied to the topic {2018 – Week 4} Passive voice vs Active voice in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 8 years ago
Sorry for tagging you all again, but it’s been brought to my attention by a lovely staff member that I got my head muddled around and I’ve accidentally gotten my passive voice mixed into a bit of showing vs telling in this post.
So, to correct any confusion: “I saw/felt/heard” is NOT passive voice. It’s telling.
Also: “My pulse was roaring in…[Read more]

The hem of my dress rustled in the stems of grass as I stepped from the last stair. With so much fabric swathed around my legs, fitting into the coach might be a harder task than it ought. I cleared my throat to dismiss the faint bubble of a laugh that tried to well up.
Laughing on the way to my father’s funeral would not give the right i…[Read more]

Passive Voice. It’s another one of those phrases that you might’ve heard thrown around, but not entirely understood what it means. (I know I certainly didn’t understand what I meant for the first three years of writing, at least.)
Passive voice is when the subject of the sentence is acted on by the verb, rather than the subject doing the…[Read more]

I got 754 words written, which is good enough, and i’m in a pretty good spot, i think, almost past where i thought i needed to be. Thank you! And now that i have this, i can hopefully be able to write 1 hundred, or 2 hundred more words tonight.
=)

well i’m not sure if i’llbe able to write that whole entire.. time.. 0_0 i’ve never written for that long. Also what i write will go slow, because the girl is sharing the gospel with her, so i have to find all the refrences to the verses she mentions. But hopefully i can get at least 700 words or so.
Thanks for doing this with me! =)

Great job! I really love your style, honestly. It has a very historical fiction feel, but it’s also engaging.
You’re welcome! 😛 Anytime.
I toss up between 3rd and 1st too, though I normally lean toward 1st person because it’s simply easier to get the character voice in, and I enjoy it more. But as I…[Read more]
