When you’re submitting a poem to Story Embers, is it okay to get it critiqued in the poetry forum first? Would it be okay to get some advice on which poem to submit? (Like which one is higher quality…?) Or is better to submit multiple and see what they say?
One of my goals this year is to submit at least 3 poems to Story Embers. I’m going to do…[Read more]

@libby Thank you so much. 🙂 I’m so glad you could relate to it! (I know what you mean!) I was reading a book on writing by Gail Carson Levine and came upon her two triolet examples that were really cool. (I’ll post them.) I was inspired to try it.
I loved your poem!! You definitely have a gift for word choice. 🙂

@evelyn It’s really cool and incorporates a lot of repetition. That was my first one, which was a blast to write. I hope to write more!
Thanks. 🙂

Drought (In triolet rhyme scheme)
I hear a rumble
From the gasping summer air.
Out the screen door I stumble,
I hear a rumble.
The rain has come, I distantly mumble.
As I scurry back up the stair,
I hear a rumble
From the gasping summer air.

@the-fledgling-artist I usually print out pages from the internet that are kind of like public domain/free. I feel the same way about books. 😀

@libby *blushes* Jane of Lantern Hill is one of her best!! It covers the shortest amount of time of all her books. I love it. Jane is also quite young, about 11 or 12.
Isn’t L.M. Montgomery so…quotable? It seemse like every line she writes is worth its own page with illustrations (or maybe her words are enough themselves!)
This is one of my…[Read more]
