It’s from a book by Rebecca Reynolds called Courage, Dear Heart. I listened to the audiobook recently and loved it. I highly recommend it if you are a fan of Creative non-fiction.

@the-fledgling-artist I think you might be thinking too much into this, it’s okay to simply say “thank you,” Trust me, no one is thinking you are being boastful. There are artists who fish for compliments and I know you aren’t one of them. Be gracious, and if they press forward, tell them that it does take time and loads of practice. There is…[Read more]

@the-fledgling-artist Oh girly, I feel you. That’s honestly been one of my struggles as well. What I need to do is probably take that same principle to the writing portion.
Being honest here, I think it might be due to fear that both of us are struggling with these projects. Well, that’s how it is for me anyway. I’m just assuming it is something…[Read more]

Big projects are some of the hardest to work on. I know that well. I’m speaking to myself here because I need to try it. Maybe you can try setting some due dates for yourself. Work in steps and maybe make a checklist, even if it is,
“sit for 20 mins and get the sketch done today”
“complete line…[Read more]

Hey guys, this is a recently completed piece of mine, I was just wondering if any of you had any thoughts or critiques or something you notice that would help me in my next piece.

@the-fledgling-artist Yeah it is really a weird platform and as far as I know practically all artists are struggling with it.

@lillian-parks03 Cute 🙂 I also think the values are strong. Almost looks like it could be a tattoo design. Good work. 🙂

@the-fledgling-artist From what I have learned, use hashtags so more people might be able to find you, and interact with other artists (especially if they have around the same size following) I watched a few Youtube videos but the IG “algorithm” to gain more people to find you is really difficult.
Just try to be consistent in posting and just…[Read more]

@the-fledgling-artist Love this! One thing I would aim to work is maybe making your line work a little cleaner. Like under her chin for example. That’s the only thought I have. 🙂

I sit and spin my little web
Filament, filament, filament
Out of myself I throw it
Into the wild, wild world
And on days like this
When I do not see it catch
Lonesome, lonesome, lonesome
Screams my heart

Beautiful poem, Christine! Who knew you could relate so much to a spider? I loved all the repetition in it.

I really enjoyed and connected with your poem; especially the part that says “Today I can’t make my lines connect And I strive alone in the corner of the barn Waiting for something to catch No one here to read my words”. And this part too actually: “And I’m ready to give up My strings are Breaking, breaking, breaking Oh my soul”. Very well written. You showed both the here and now of the spider and the longing for something better. Good job.
