J.A.Penrose started the topic Lesson 8 : Timing of Backstory in the forum 7 years, 8 months ago
Hello Parimis!
One of the things that I gleaned out of the last lesson was that something I need to look at is when to release key information.
Often in writing, the character’s backstory is really important to the plot. Maybe the fact that Johnny spent seven years in prison is why he plans to betray the main character. Maybe Amy’s obsession…[Read more]

Hey guys!
So far, it looks like the general consensus is for the young girl jumping off the train and being shocked by the world around her. I’m also thinking to get really nice character voice, we should go for first person (present or past) as that is a very deeply biased voice.
@Esjohnson has made a different suggestion on the doc, but I…[Read more]

@cassie-hartfinh Sounds interesting. One of the main things we need to be keeping in mind though is that we need the character voice to be amazing. Super unique and real. Often it is good to display this through, as @steward-of-the-pen suggested, something we’re all familiar with. Then again, we don’t all want to do the exact same thing.
I think…[Read more]

Hmmm, indeeeeeeeed. The main thing is that I don’t know anyone, and I don’t think I can invite anyone into a cabin now… too late in the session.
If we can get 5 people interested, I’ll make a cabin. (If possible.) I will be in two cabins, but hey! That’s fiiiiine.
