      I’m fine either way, but maybe having Harry, Ron, Kalmar and Rex filled in later might be better, just because I’m not sure when they will get back. Or you could write them coming back. I don’t really know where I was going with sending them off, anyhow…

      What I know in my head and what I believe in my heart are two entirely different things.

        *tries to figure out when and how Rupert would be most likely to tell his story* Probably not right this moment, come to think of it. . . I mean, he isn’t very trusting of Hermione right now.

        *has idea* Wait, what if they get interrupted by a Macha attack? I mean, she would probably know EXACTLY who he is (assuming the theory of her being the one to pull all of the characters into the castle is correct). . . *remembers that I probably shouldn’t say who his mom is (well, was, I guess) ’cause that’s not public info yet* Grrrrrr. *considers doing it anyway* Well, Amberley seems to be the resident myth expert, so she might recognize the name, and that would lead to questions after the battle, which could be a more logical (and I think likely, come to think of it) place for Rupert to share his backstory. . . *decides that maybe just the mom’s name and none of her story might not hurt*

          Who’s Rupert’s mom? And what’s his backstory?

          (unfortunately, I’ve never read the Ashtown Burials series, so I really don’t know too much about Rupert.)

            *hopes the quote thing will work*

            Who’s Rupert’s mom?

            She was a descendant of Kandake.

            And what’s his backstory?

            *starts at beginning* Rupert was born in England. At some point during his childhood (idk when exactly) both his parents were killed in a plane crash.

            Anyways, after the deaths of his parents, Rupe was sent to the U. S. to live with his Norse godparents, Thor and his wife Liv. They sent him to Ashtown (which is either in Wisconsin or Michigan) to become an Acolyte when he was around eight.

            The Smith siblings became Acolytes around the same time. Lawrence, the youngest of four (well, technically five) was around Rupert’s age, and the two were rivals at first, but eventually became friends. (regarding the two of them, Rupert once said, “In mood, I was a shark, and he was a dolphin.”)

            At some point before the year was up, Harriet and Circe, along with Rupert’s elder brother, disappeared.

            The two boys were ten or perhaps a little over (the book is unclear) when Lawrence’s own brother, Daniel, was killed (idk what the cause was), and the two grew closer.

            Soon Lawrence was all who remained of his family — his sisters and brother were gone, and his parents died slowly of grief.

            When they were young adults, Lawrence fell in love with a native princess called Cataan, and resolved to marry her, but while the Sages agreed, the Keepers would not sanction the union. When he married her anyway, he was expelled from the Order.

            Ten years prior to the timeline place from whence I plucked Rupert for this story, he was searching the old rooms of Edwin Laughlin Phoenix. Hidden inside of the walls he found the mutilated and deformed bodies of seven children (Acolytes all). Among them was that of his brother. Two others were the bodies of Harriet and Circe Smith. (Phoenix is more or less a sorcerer, who combines the flesh of animals with that of men to “improve upon” humanity. These kids were left over from his earlier experiments. I know. Dark.)

            Seven years after that, Rupert and Lawrence learned of the location of the Dragon’s Tooth, and attempted to race Phoenix to get it. Phoenix’s men got there first, and before long, the two were running for their lives. As they ran, Rupert was shot in the shoulder, and was knocked unconscious when he fell on the rocky ground. Lawrence carried him back to their boat. When Rupert revived, he found the boat in the process of sinking / being dashed to pieces, and slumped over the steering wheel was Lawrence’s lifeless body, shot multiple times in the back.

                Ditto. 🙁  The combining of humans with animals sounds really similar to the Melding in the Wingfeather Saga–WE CAN USE THIS!!!!!!!!!

                *Ahem*

                Sorry, but, we can! It puts some common ground with the Wingfeather siblings for Rupert–I think we can utilize this to our advantage. What do y’all think?

                P.S. For Winter Rose:

                Gnag/Davion “melded” humans and animals (so, basically combined them) with pieces of the holoré and the holoél (stones that the Maker put there at the creation of Aerwiar; they give life to it), creating, if the person’s heart wanted it, Fangs, or, if they stopped singing the “Song of the Ancient Stones” (that was how the power was accessed) halfway through, and/or wasn’t truly wanting the “Melding”, they would turn into Cloven. These are pretty much mash-ups of different creatures, and Fangs are wolves (Grey Fangs), reptiles (Green Fangs), and bats (Bat Fangs) that wear clothes and walk about on two legs. You should be able, if you go to the Wingfeather site and click on Fan Art, find some pictures of Cloven, and there might be a couple of Fangs too… If you also just open a new tab and search “Wingfeather Saga Art” a couple of fangs should at some point come up. There should also be pictures of the Wingfeather siblings too.

                          Hi @melancholicwriter (love the name!)! Welcome to the “What If These Characters Met” forum! My characters are Janner, Kalmar, and Leeli Wingfeather from the Wingfeather Saga and Emberyn and Amberley Fletcher from my own stories. I’ll let the others inform you what characters they have. Nice to “meet” you!

                            @melancholicwriter

                            So, after the first characters entered the castle, they encountered Macha, the Owl Witch from Irish legend/the movie Song of the Sea. She uses her magical jars to suck out people’s energy, I guess? (normally she steals their emotions and turns them to stone, but magic works a little differently in the castle).

                            Now the characters are hiding from Macha. They decided that to defeat Macha, they have to steal back a book from her that has her mortal weakness in it (more info on page 11).

                            Right now everyone is camping out in two rooms, Communal A, where everyone hangs out, and Communal B, where they kept the injured.

                            ~~~
                            You can bring in any character from any book/movie (including your own). There are a lot more details on how the castle works in the very first post on this thread, but basically your characters can’t leave the building, and you can invent any room you’d like.
                            Feel free to ask us any other questions!
                                So do I just choose any characters I want from books, movies, and my books and just pop them in or do they have to come to the castle? and do I just like move them around however?
