Hello to all of Erekdale!

Long story short, a few of us Ereki have decided to start an online book club, as an addition to our Story Analysis subforum and to help us improve our own craft.

I know a lot of us are going to be too busy to read much in November (due to NaNoWriMo and all), but we’re going to kick off next month anyway. Attendance might be a little small, but that’s okay.

Basically, our book club is open to all Ereki, slow readers, fast readers, readers of whatever genre and whatever age. This is going to be pretty lowkey and relaxed, there’s no pressure to get involved, or to finish your book, or even to make a comment on what you read. Its completely up to you how involved you are.

In the interest of being relaxed, and catering to those who are too broke to afford buying too many books (Lol, this is me), we aren’t going to study a particular book each month. Instead, we’re going to focus on a topic or a genre (for instance, a YA book, historical fantasy, sci-fi or a book with a male protagonist, something like that). That way we’re always comparing and learning from similar things, but we’re allowing for diversity of interests, as well as the themes, topics and whatnot covered in each book. Does that make sense? I’ll start off by selecting the month’s theme, but as we get going you guys are more than welcome to give suggestions for upcoming themes and that sort of thing.

I think that’s basically it for now. I’ll make another post on October 31st announcing the theme and then we’ll have a trial run of the book club in November and begin ironing out the issues that are sure to spring up!
