@e-b-raulands: alright, I’ll confess I don’t hang out here a lot but you totally just hyped me up XD This sounds WAY cool and BTW, as the master of the soap box, I applaud your speech! Well done! : D Now, if you don’t mind, I shall henceforth state my thoughts:
Ok so I wanted to start with this thought ““Though Headquarters is based in a simple courtyard, each surrounding building opens into a different genre world, giving the agents easy access to their mission locations.”” I really like this idea and thus think the answer to the question “What genre are we? ” or even “What is our ‘culture’? ” should be a mix. I don’t think we are one genre or one culture but rather each of us brings our genre and our culture from our respective world and, together we make our own unique culture and genre. I’m just saying I don’t think we need to choose a culture; I think it will just happen (and it’s always better that way right ; D)
To answer “What does our world look like?
“Though Headquarters is based in a simple courtyard, each surrounding building opens into a different genre world, giving the agents easy access to their mission locations.”” here’s my thoughts about how this could work:
We make a thread that’s practically a role play for Maraki members only except the characters written must be accurate to the person writing them (Eg, I couldn’t be a crazy female ESFP whos spontaneous and loves feelings (*gags* not that I would ever want to be that XD)) The characters should be manifestations of their authors with small difference (Eg. maybe my character could be super buff or be a sword wielding master IDK) but the personality of the character must remain true to the original. Moreover each character must remain true to the culture and time period of his/her genre. (Eg, If I chose his-fic and, IDK, the roman era, my charter would have to behave in accordance to how someone from that era would. ) Although, I think i might be best to ignore the language barrier (except in specific instances as is relevant: like the roman character not knowing the meaning of the word Ok.) To answer this question “Why are we all here in the guild? ” each of us were pulled out of our respective worlds (IDK, maybe by discovering some magical portal making device.) to a common realm (I don’t really care where, it’s up to you guys, but 18th century england sounds intriguing…) by our guild master to fight some common enemy amassing in this realm and intent on taking over/destroying all the others. So @jane-maree you would have a more organisational role in this whole thing (If everyone likes this idea that is XD) So you would be a character, the sort of mentor to us all, yet also incharge of the plot and villain (whoever or whatever it/he may be.) You would be the one to send us on missions and whatever though I have a thought as to how you could be relieved of a lot of the work:
What if, although we each had our own characters that represented us, you assigned us Jobs in a fictional work. For example, let’s say the villain (the dark unicorn how about. I know, those dark unicorns are pretty terrifying XD) intends to conquer the fantasy medieval realm. (you would be incharge of that overarching plot). BUT then you assign each of us Meerkats a role in that story. So you could tell one of use to be the dark villon intent on destroying everything. Another to be a comic relief to side with the protagonist and so on… That way each of us would get experience developing plots and characters in genres unfamiliar to us while simultaneously writing both our guild history and adventures. However, one or two of us would remain our, true to ourselves characters. It’s possible we could even make our ‘missions’ line up with guild war prompts (for example if we had a prompt that said ‘write a his-fic set in the crusades’ we could make the dark overarching villain intent on doing something evil in the crusades and thus kill two birds with one stone ; D. This could even work if the prompt where, say, a romantic comedy as we could make our heroes goal to bring the two together or else our one of us wouldn’t be born IDK, I’m just brainstorming right now XD) The point is, this could server more than one purpose and increase participation in guild wars because so people are slackers… *laughs nervously* ya, I may or may not be one of those people…
Anyway, THAT is my idea. If you guys like it I think we would each need to write a little short story on how we each got sucked out of our worlds… Also, I claim medieval fantasy if this idea goes through XD So ya, tell me your thoughts and I’m just going to steal all of @e-b-raulands tags and tag everyone!
