Hey everybody!

Nice work on the prompt war.  I got that all submitted and we’ll anxiously await the results together.

IN THE MEAN TIME, here’s that announcement I promised:

You guys know I’ve been busy with school of late.  I’m studying for a computer science degree at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  You might also know that I didn’t really want to go to school in the first place because (big surprise) I want to be a writer.

Well….. so I got a job offer from my old high-school landscaping boss and I said yes.  I’m dropping out of school.  (Don’t be disappointed.  This is…. really exciting.)  Basically, I’m going to help my old boss manage some of his landscaping crews and help him grow is rapidly growing business.  I’m actually really excited about this job; when I worked for him in highschool I decided it was the coolest job I would ever have, but I couldn’t stick around because the company isn’t big enough.  A few years of growth later, it is big enough and I get to go back to a job I really enjoy and a company where I can have a healthy career.

BUT.  MORE IMPORTANTLY.  My new (0ld) boss knows that I want to be a writer, and he wants to help me get there.  He’s going to work with me to make sure I can make it to conferences and stuff and get my writing done on the side.  Plus, just having someone around who still believes in the old writing dream (confession: I’d started to lose sight of it) is really, really encouraging.

I’mma be a writer, y’all!

Okay, yeah.  So, what this means for Rillumen is still a little unsure.  Hopefully I’ll be around more consistently, but only only in the evenings because I have a full time job now.  (Well, it won’t start in full until Februaryish, but yeah.)  I’m going to be refocusing on my writing though and that’ll be good for all of us!

Do any of y’all have exciting announcements?  Or just random life thoughts you want to share?
