ALSO:
Typically for this thread, you may want to make a new post for each thing so that it doesn’t get too cluttered and confusing.
So for any confusion I may have caused in my wording!

Can I just say guys, you are doing awesomely here. O-o
I think I may spend all of tomorrow afternoon just going through these and collaborating some more things together and then responding to this stellar thread.
Also, I’m thinking that we may end up using some of our world building to have our own mini Parimi Alca tournaments? As in,…[Read more]

@writercatherine Oh, yes I meant next next Monday (sorry about the confusion). The last time I wrote an entire chapter in a day was five years ago when I used to write those horrible 100 word ones. 😛 I did get about a quarter of the chapter done so far, though. Thanks for asking!

@j-a-penrose, I’m in the same boat as @writercatherine, what with school starting back up, but I think I can come on at least once a week. I was considering posting more sections of my books for critiquing, and this might just be the nudge I needed. Someone hold me to it. 😛 Even though the accountability aspect is a little stressful to me (like…[Read more]

@thewanderingtypewriterWelcome to Parimi Alca! It’s great to have you here! *gives you all fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies and tea* What are some of your favorite books? In case that question has already been asked, here’s another: Why do you write? 😀

Well Parimis, it is time to say goodbye to a few of our members.
Some of our noble friends have decided that they would like to step out, at least temporarily, and I figured I’d let you guys know. Whenever someone is removed, I will put a farewell comment here for them, and so you all know.
At the end of the week, more will probably be…[Read more]

@writercatherine I love her climaxes, actually. I read the prologue, and then at the end, I watch all the pieces fall into place and it’s always so EPIC. 😃 😂

Who has sat down to plot and then ended up with all of their ideas going splat onto the page and not making any sense to how a book needs to be structured? Me too. A few years ago, (yikes, crazy to think that it was only just over three years) I would just come up with the intro, the complication, the plot twist, the climax, and the conclusion.…[Read more]

*stands stiffly and places hand on computer* I hereby announce that I shall complete the first draft of chapter 1 of my WIP by midnight next American Monday, EDT. If I do not, then you shall pretend to be very angry with me and make me mop the floors.
*sits down* Sound good?
That’s great, @writercatherine! Worldbuilding and characters are my favorite.

@consciousdreamer Ah, good idea with the Google Doc.
@coggleton @writercatherine More good ideas! I would imagine that anyone could use a Dragonling, but using Drakes would take formal education and Great Dragons would require years of training, maybe first as an apprentice after learning how to use Drakes. There would probably be very few people…[Read more]

@writercatherine Stellar! Worldbuilding is heaps of fun, and so is character development!
In this phase of development, are you going to look at character arcs?

@consciousdreamer @writercatherine @coggleton
I like the idea of the Great Dragons being rarer and creating a quote “elite” group of people – the ones that own/train/work with them – though it’s all just snobbery. 🙂
I’m also thinking. What if in the center of each city there is a ginormous clock tower where the Governor lives. Inside, the g…[Read more]

These are all fantastic ideas! @writercatherine @coggleton Maybe another idea for the whole elite side of things could be a sort of stigma attached to the different kinds of dragons? Like, it’s not a big deal if you’ve got a wyrmling/dragonling, because they’re super common, but if you work with a Great Dragon, then everybody thinks you’re all…[Read more]
