Interesting idea. To help with your kids and story maybe. War in itself is bad. Plain and simple. Kill or be killed. Not something God made us for. Now, I am thinking of becoming a soldier myself and have come to understand something. An unrighteous war is a truly evil war. Think WWII from the Nazi diehard’s view. How can one justify the death of…[Read more]

Well to help your story.
First, the time frame leaves you with Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show in Europe. The Wild Bunch are all dead or in prison. Richard West is the last of this group and was killed last year. Jesse James has been dead since 82. Frank James has been acquitted of all charges and is living quietly. Butch Cassidy and his Wild Bunch…[Read more]

Hey guys! I’m new here. My name is Katja and I am working on a WWII story. I haven’t gotten very far because I’ve been pretty busy. 🙁 I haven’t written for long and I want to meet some people who can give me tips on writing. I am focusing more on my fantasy story, I posted the first chapter in that group. Let me know if anyone wants to read…[Read more]

Hey everyone! I’m working on a story set in Miami FL in the early 60s and am trying to find out about how the foster care system worked back then but the Internet isn’t being helpful. If anyone knows about it I’d really appreciate your help! Specifically how long it took house parents to get approved 🙂

Oooh I agree! There’s something special in historical romance that is very rare these days (and therefore in contemporary fiction). Chivalry is almost bittersweet in being so beautiful but also lacking.
I think with romance, as with a lot of things in writing, it’s so important to understand its purpose. It can be…[Read more]

@the-inkspiller Okay, wow, let me just say that your information is incredibly helpful and insightful. Thank you so much! I know, it’s kind of disappointing that I can’t include the Earps or Doc Holliday in the story… they’re such fascinating people! But then, I don’t know what I’d do with them anyway. 😛
I’ve gotten quite a bit of writing…[Read more]

Full disclosure, I just joined the group so that I could respond and lend my help, even though I haven’t particularly wrote much in the Old West setting (though I often look to it for inspiration, particularly when I’m in a more sci-fi mood), but I do have an amateurish breadth of historical knowledge in the area. The idea of…[Read more]

Hi Corine!
I love your view of romance! That’s incredibly beautiful.
I love reading romance, mostly Historical romance. Historical romance is beautiful to me because it captures the beauty of something we’re losing today: Chivalry. I think chivalry is very important and there’s so little of it left in our culture today. People dont…[Read more]

I’m interested to know what’s something that you appreciate reading about in a romance?
For example, I love seeing an exploration of the safety that couples can feel in each other’s presence. I think it’s quite a beautiful (if weak) reflection of the refuge that we find in God as His children.
