Hey Erekdale, sorry for my absence. I’ve been busy doing other people’s stuff (at least, that’s my excuse) and I haven’t been putting out a lot of proper fiction to read. If anything, I’m having a bit of crisis in not being able to write anything good in spite of being able to come up with interesting settings and premises.
This is a little something I wrote a while back, then finished recently for a publishing course with The Write Practice that I’m currently going through so I don’t waste my investment back in MAY when I was SUPPOSED to do it. I was supposed to write an all new story, but I just couldn’t do it; I hated everything else I penned.
So… if anyone cares… what do you think? I’m on no deadline, I just want to know what people think.
1) Does the intro work? Does the story make sense as you read, or do new details leave you confused?
2) Is the story generally compelling? Is the main character’s dilemma adequately conveyed? Do his emotions come alive, or is he just kinda there?
3) Does his choice seem real, or does it fall flat?
