@the-golden-light I like it! I like the poetry-like rhythm of the narration. The emotions felt real and relatable. There were a couple punctuation problems, but everyone does that sometimes. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

the only one I can think of off the top of my head is Janelle Hovde’s Raven’s Heir—a novella in the Five Poisoned Apples collection. There are spiritual powers, but no magic, and it’s a medieval kind of world. I’m sure I know more though, so I’ll keep thinking.
Reading for kenis sporadic. There’s times when all I do is read,…[Read more]

Today’s post was written by Brandon Miller, my fellow Nebraskan.
How and What to Read as Writers:
Okay so, we’re all writers, right? We weave words and spin tales and generally have a good go at reality. For most of us though, our love for stories started on the other side of the experience — as readers. Now that we’re writing, it’s sometimes…[Read more]

@Knaplingers, happy Easter week!
Have you guys read any stories that remind you of Easter? The endings of The Warden and the Wolf King and Ember Rising (and the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, obviously) come to mind for me. Have you written any stories that remind you of Easter? Of course in a way every good story reminds us of the…[Read more]

Today’s topic is, What to Do When You’re Not Writing: Cultivating the eye of an artist by Martin Detwiler.
When we sit down at our desks and take up our pens, ready to mark down the next few hundred words, what is the mindset that has filled up all the space on either side of our writing? That is, do we consider ourselves writers, artists – illu…[Read more]

24 hours. 1,440 minutes. 86,400 seconds. That’s how much time we have each day. And yet, it seems like we never have enough hours, minutes, or seconds to get everything done. What do you do when you can’t seem to squ…[Read more]

excellent points!
Regarding your question about minute details, I think if the writer specifically asks you to point it all out, then go ahead and point out every little detail, but only if you’re sure to counter it with lots of good things and praise. Even writers who want all the bad payed out can feel discouraged if the o…[Read more]
